KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 5th April were: 1st: Grace Landy & Elizabeth Lani9gan; Philip Brennan & Nellie O’Shea; 3rd: Josie O’Gorman & Tina Ronan. Bridge takes place each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Visitors are always welcome and partners will be provided if necessary.

TOP CLASS ITEMS REQUIRED: Do you have any top class items which you don’t require. This is your chance to donate them to an auction for worthwhile local charities. For information about the auction contact Biddy at 087 – 983190 or Alycia on 087 – 6757490. The Charity Auction in St. Eoghan`s Centre, Kilmoganny will take place on Sunday 30th April at 4.00 p.m.. There is a beautiful collection of assorted items m any of which were kindly donated by a local person. Viewing in St. Eoghan`s Centre, Kilmoganny on Friday 28th April from 12.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and on Sunday morning from 12.00 noon to 2.00 p.m. Further donations of quality items would be welcome. Proceeds will go to St. Joseph’s Home, Kilmoganny and to the Kilmoganny GAA Field. The day concludes with a Cabaret in Dunphy’s Lounge with music by Gerry Walsh and Dallas.
THANKS to all who supported the Coffee Morning in aid of Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team which took place in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on last Friday.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Adult County 40 x 20 championships in the Junior Doubles C.J. Delaney/Gavin O’Keeffe (Kells) defeated Sean Foley/Cian Ryan (Windgap) and Dan Breen/Eoin Brennan (Kells) defeated P J Barron /Mick O’Shea (Windgap). In the Junior Doubles Final Dan Breen/Eoin Brennan (Kells) defeated C.J. Delaney/Gavin O’Keeffe (Kells). In
Junior Singles Eoin Brennan (Kells) defeated C.J. Delaney and then defeated Sean Foley (Windgap) in the Final. In the Minor Singles Final Eoin Brennan (Kells) defeated Ciaran Cooney (Clogh).
In the County 40 x 20 Under 10 B singles Kells representatives were Jason Lafford, David Moore, Conor Lawton, Liam Davis, Tim Doherty, Daniel Darwich, Fionn Mahony, Jake O’Neill, Darragh Lyons and Jamie Tallon. Jamie got through to the Semi-final but was beaten by the eventual winner Andrew Brennan (Talbot’s Inch). In the Boys U 11 B Singles the Kells representatives were Ross O’Neill, Sean Lawton and Eoin Sheil. In the Girls U 11 B Singles were Katie Grace, Aoife Healy, Marisa Dunne, Taryn Morant and Sal Ryan. Sal Ryan reached the final but was beaten by Aoibhe Ryan (Kilfane).
In the Open Senior Doubles All Ireland Semi-Final Patrick Funchion and Peter Funchion (Kells) were defeated by Diarmuid Nash and Colin Crehan (Clare). Hard luck to the Kells lads but well done on a great achievement on reaching the semi-finals.
THE PAT WALSH MEMORIAL EASTER PARADE will take place on next Sunday after 11.00 a.m. mass in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan. As usual there will be a Cabaret in Townsend’s on Easter Sunday night at 9.00 p.m.
HOLY WEEK CEREMONIES will take place in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny at 7.00 p.m. on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. The ceremonies will take place in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan at 8.00 p.m. on Holy Thursday, 3.00 p.m. on Good Friday and at 9.00 p.m. on Holy Saturday. The penitential service, sacrament of reconciliation, will take place as part of the Good Friday celebrations. During the ceremonies on Good Friday Pope Frances has asked for a collection to be taken up in all churches for the Christian Communities in the Holy Land. Parishioners are asked to return the Trocaire Boxes during ceremonies or weekend masses.
HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN next meeting will take place on Tuesday 18th April in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. Among the items to be discussed is the information about social and cultural life in the parish which is contained in school registers over the past century and a half. All with an interest in the parish history are invited to attend.
A MAD HATTER AFTERNOON TEA & WOODLAND ADVENTURE on Bank Holiday Monday April 17th at 2.00 p.m. in the Windgap Community Centre will be hosted by Windgap Camogie Club. The events include: 1. Woodland Adventure by the lake and playground for adults and children. 2. Mad Hatter tea in the Community Centre with lots of treats and surprises for all. 3. Bake and Home Produce Sale. 4. Raffle 5. Competition for the maddest hat (children and adult categories) - Celebrity Judge. All are welcome. Admission is: Adults €10, Children €2 or Family €25.
