VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: The individual winner of the Husqvarna Lawn Mower has donated it to Camphill and Husqvarna have added two more prizes for a raffle to take place during the Ploughing Match in September. Tickets will be sold in the Husqvarna stand during the 3 days of the ploughing match. Ticket sellers are required for the day. Contact Eugene O’Donovan if you are available.


THE DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC will take place in Callan Golf Club on this Friday and Saturday. Time sheet and team entries to Michael Murphy at 086 0 2364864 or 056 – 7728210.


 


THE KELLS ANNUAL TIDY TOWNS FUN DAY will take place next Sunday 14th August, between 2.30 p.m. and 7.00p.m. at Mullins Mill, Kells. The activities include: Bar B Q, Duck Race, Live Music, Storytelling, Face painting, Canoeing, and Raffles. The Main attraction will be Miriam Lambert Puppeteer - Goldilockes and the Three Bears Puppet Show. The money raised from this event every year goes into keeping Kells 'Tidy. Your support will be gratefully appreciated.


 


KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: After this Wednesday 10th August Bridge will cease in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny until Wednesday 7th September.  Bridge classes for beginners will commence on Wednesday 28th September at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. No knowledge of card playing is required for beginners. The lessons will take place on 10 successive Wednesdays. The total cost of the 10 lessons is €20. KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The Leinster Results are as follows: In the Junior B singles Semi-Final - Peter Flanagan (Kells, Meath) defeated Brendan Burke (Kells, Kilkenny). In the U 21 Doubles Final - Christy Dawson/Graham Clifford (St. Canice’s, Kilkenny) defeated Dan
Breen/Ger McGrath 21-18, 21 -17. Best of luck to Ger McGrath who contests the U 21 Singles decider Saturday against Keith Bourke or Eoghan Hennessy.
In the McGee 40x20 International Tournament well done to Diarmuid Burke (Kells) who got to the Division 3 Plate Final over the weekend in Newport. Unluckily for Diarmuid he was defeated 21-20 by Noel McGloughlin (Mayo).
At Abbeylara in the last one wall competition of the year Dan Breen, Ger McGrath and Michael
Fennelly travel to Abbeylara Co. Longford to play in the most prestigious one wall tournament in Ireland. Dan and Ger played in the Open division with the best senior handballers in the country and Michael plays in the junior grade which was won by Dan and Ger in 2010. The very best of luck to all three.


 


THE UNTIMLY DEATH of Brendan Delahunty Monamore and Clone shocked the community of Dunamaggan last Saturday week. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle, and children Abbey and Lee, parents Pat and Ellen, brother Patrick and sisters Yvonne and Alison, God Mother Mary numerous cousins, in-laws, relatives and friends.  He reposed at his parent’s home in Clone until the removal to St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on last Tuesday week. The remains were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. assisted by Revs. Willie Dalton, Pat Comerford and Peter Kehoe O Cam. Members of his family read the readings lead the singing and presented gifts and symbols during the mass. He was laid to rest in Kilmoganny Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
