THE DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC took place last Friday and Saturday in Callan Golf Club. Unlike the past few years the weather was suitable for golfing and 52 teams took part. The winning team was Tom Phelan, Michael Walsh, Niall Brett and James Brett. The second place team was: Shane Roche, Patrick Carey, Paul Roche and Tony Walsh and third place was won by Mossy Skehan, Dick Dowling, John Holden and N. O’Brien. The winners of the ladies prize were: Margaret O’Shea, Monica Laydeon, Margaret Comerford and Marie O’Riordan
THE KILMOGANNY VARIETY GROUP will hold a Lyrics Board and Fancy Dress Disco in Dunphy’s , Kilmoganny on this Saturday at 8.30 p.m. Admission is just €5.
A BUFFY DINNER AND SERVICE AUCTION will be held in Shirley’s, Kells on this Saturday night at 8.30 p.m. in aid of Somalia Relief. Admission is just €10 for this very worthy event.
THE ANNUAL DUNAMAGGAN GYMKHANA will take place on Sunday week the 28th August. This very popular Gymkhana which raises funds for the Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team and St. Joseph’s Care Home for the Elderly in Kilmoganny will include the Leading Rein at 2.00 p.m. and a Dog Show at 3.00 p.m. as part of its programme. There is also a monster raffle and tickets for the raffle are on sale at present in local outlets.
THE DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB MEMBERS DRAW for All-Ireland tickets will take place in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan on Friday 26th August at 9.0 p.m. subject to the tickets been available. The draw is confined to Club members.
CALLAN AUTUMN 2011 COURSES: Gardening, Computers, Business & Childcare Courses will run in Droichead Family Resource Centre, The Friary, Callan. Courses will run subject to demand. To book your place, please ring 056 - 7755519 Ext 1. Classes are free of charge to all participants in receipt of Job Seekers Benefit/Job seekers allowance and for those that have less than Leaving Cert standard of education. Courses are funded by Kilkenny BTEI.
BRIDGE: will resume on Wednesday 7th September. Bridge classes for beginners will commence on Wednesday 28th September at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. No knowledge of card playing is required.
