KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 25th July were: 1st; Emer Wallace & David Sutton; 2nd: Grace Landy & Elizabeth Lanigan; 3rd: Rita Townsend & Jackie Kenneally. Visitors are always welcome on Wednesday evenings at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Partners will be provided on the night.

GOLF CLASSIC: The Dunnamaggin Hurling and Kilmoganny Football Club Annual Golf Classic is on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th August in Callan Golf Club. A Team of four is €200 including BBQ on the 6th Hole and 3 Course dinner after golf. Tee Box sponsorship is also available for €50 Please support if you can, this is one of the important fundraising events for the clubs.


 


GREATFUL THANKS to all who helped in any way to make to recent fund raising coffee morning for Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team so succesful. €1,360was raised and acknowledged. Special thanks to Sponsors, Pete & Margo Moran, 2 Nice to Slice and Musgraves and to St Eoghan’s Centre and John & Mags Kelly and to all the ladies who helped. A special thanks to the entertainers: Paddy Fitzpatrick, Jim Maher & Jimmy O’Meara. The event could not have been succesful without the great support it received on the day. Thanks to all who supported the event.


 


KILMOGANNY AUGUST WEEKEND FESTIVAL AND WEDDING: The highlight of this year’s festival in the Wedding of the Year. The Bridal Party and Groom, at present are top secret as is the officiating ‘priest’. All will be revealed on Sunday evening at 7.00 p.m. in Dunphy’s Lounge which will be transformed for the ceremony and later celebrations. Tickets are now on sale for the `Wedding of the Year` in all usual local outlets. The cost of tickets is €15. This includes the Wedding Show, Barbeque Buffet and 5 piece Band `Vegas Nights`. Admission to Band only at 10.00 p.m. is €5. Raffle tickets are also on sale at Kilmoganny Post Office for `Barbeque, Hamper and Bottle Whiskey. Kilmoganny Festival commences with a 5k Family walk through scenic area in Kilmoganny at 4.00 p.m. on Saturday 5th August. The entry per family for the walk is €10 with refreshments served later. Individual entries are €7. On Sunday 6th August at 11.45 a.m. there will be a Vintage Parade of cars and machinery etc. through Village down to Kilmoganny Pitch where they will be on Display. This will be immediately followed by Children’s fancy dress parade. At 12 noon a Juvenile Football Match will take place which will be followed by Juvenile Hurling Match at 12.30 p.m. and at 1.30 p.m. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of  Dunnamaggin`s 1st and only Senior Hurling Championship win, the great Team of 1997 will take to the field once more to take on Dunnamaggin’s 2017 team. Who will win? Will they beat the Champions? There will be a Dog Show at 1.00 p.m. Other events include Bouncy Castle, Music, Barbeque, Games and Tug of War at 1.00 p.m.  Stalls are welcome. KELLS HANDBALL: In the County 60 x 30 U 13 Boys Doubles tournament Adam O’Sullivan and Joseph Prendergast (Kells) competed against Mullinavat A and Goresbridge A. Cathal Buckley and John Hayes (Kells) competed against Mullinavat B.  In the semi-final Cathal and John defeated Joe Healy/Aaron Hosey (Goresbridge).  In the Final, which was played as part of the Ducksy Walsh Memorial Tournament, Cathal and John put in a great effort but lost out to Luke Flannigan/Dominic Bolster (Clogh). The Ducksy Walsh 60 x 30 Senior Doubles Memorial Tournament was held over the weekend.  Patrick Funchion (Kells) and Peter Funchion (Kells) were invited to attend.  They played their group stage matches in Mullinavat.  They defeated Nicky Anthony/Joe Walsh (Mullinavat) but lost out to Eoin Kennedy/Keith Burke (Dublin) and Robbie McCarthy/Tommy Hayes (Westmeath/Wexford). It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning’s handball, followed by thrilling semi-finals and finals played in Talbot’s Inch during the afternoon. Well done to all involved for hosting and organizing a brilliant tournament.


The Annual County One Wall tournament was held in Windgap and the Kells Open participants were Patrick Funchion, Peter Funchion, Dan Breen and Eoin Brennan.  After playing round robin Peter Funchion defeated Patrick Funchion in the Final.( Photo attached)   Thanks to Windgap Handball Club for hosting the tournament and for providing the refreshments throughout the afternoon.
