KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: There was no Bridge last Wednesday due to the inclement weather. Bridge resumes as usual this Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. Visitors are always welcome and it is not necessary to have a partner. A Charity Bridge night will be held on Wednesday 21st March in aid of St. Joseph’s Care Home for the Elderly in Kilmoganny. The starting time for this event will be 7.30 p.m. Visitors are very welcome to support this worthy cause.

THE DUNNA DASH: The 5th Annual “Dunna Dash” 5km Family Fun Run & Walk in aid of St. Leonard’s National School will now be held next Sunday 11th March  as it was postponed last Sunday due to the inclement weather and road conditions at 12.30 p.m.. Registration will be from 11.30 a.m. in the school hall on the day. Sponsors are currently sought for the children’s medals. If you are interested in or know of anyone or company who would be willing to help with this please let Barbara Rossiter, Aine Walsh or Yvonne Lyons know.


 


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Adult County 40 x 20 championships in the Junior Singles Ciaran Cooney (Clogh) defeated Gavin O’Keeffe (Kells);  C J Delaney (Kells) lost out to Eamonn Hawe (Windgap); in the Intermediate Singles Shane Dunne (Clogh) defeated Diarmuid Burke (Kells) and in the Junior B Singles Michael Power (Kells) lost out to Padraig Foley (Windgap).


In the Adult Leinster 40 x 20 championships in the Junior B Doubles Anthony Martin/Diarmuid Burke, (Kells) defeated Murt Doyle/Steve Doyle (Carlow); in the Intermediate Doubles Brendan Burke (Kells)/Ciaran Neary (Talbot’s Inch) defeated Joe Cumminsl/Peter Reilly (Meath) and in the Minor Doubles semi-final Eoin Brennan (Kells) Padraig Foley (Windgap) defeated Cian Kehoe/Robert Cogley (Wexford).


    


HISTORICAL KELLS DISCUSSION GROUP: The second Historic Kells Discussion night will take place on Wednesday 7th March at 8.00 p.m. in Kells/Mullins Mill. Discussion topics will be: 1. Kells/Mullins Mill and the Mullins Family and 2. Residents of Kells Village 1900 – 2000. The first meeting was a great success with over 40 attending. Everyone is very welcome including those who only wish to listen.


 


COFFEE MORNING in aid of the Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team will take place in St, Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Friday 23rd March from 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 Noon. Your support would be appreciated.


 


OPEN MIC NIGHT: The next Open Mic is on Thursday 15th March at 7.30 p.m. in St Eoghan's Centre, Kilmoganny. The wonderful and gifted pupils from our National School will perform for the first half, the usual Open Mic will be in the second half. All are invited. If you'd like to tell a story sing a song play music read a poem please contact Alva on 085 – 8641378. All donations will go to St. Eoghan’s School.


 


SCHOOL ENROLMENTS should be made for next school year as soon as possible so that schools may plan constructively for the year ahead. Parents/guardians of prospective pupils should contact the school of their choice.


 


UNEXPECTED SNOW: The unexpected snow of last week enabled school pupils to have an unplanned break from school from Wednesday to Friday. While all the young enjoyed the snow and its excitement it is very hard work for the farming community in the locality. Thanks to a combination of Co. Council Workers and farmers the local roads were passable and Saturday’s thaw was a great relief to all road users and to those confined to their homes during the inclement weather.


 


THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION FOR THE FIRST TIME was celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church for the pupils of St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan on Tuesday 27th February 2018 by Rev, Nicholas Flavin P. P. It was fortunate that the day preceded the inclement weather. In all 21 pupils received the sacrament. They were: Alfie Steed, Sam Doherty, Alana Lahart, Max Kirwan, Lauren Hale, Stewart Kavanagh, Brendan Carroll, Sophie Moore, Oran Kinsella, Blazej Flis, Croía Hickey, Shauna Hayes, Conor Fogarty, Ena Hickey, Grace Lahart, Emer Rossiter, David Fallon, Hannah Mulhall, James Moore Sophie Gilmore and Cormac Whelan Foxe.
