Kells Handball Club Report to April 14th 2019
In the Juvenile 40 x 20 Team Championships in the All Ireland Semi Final Kilkenny’s U12/13 Team of Cathal Buckley (Kells), John Hayes (Kells), Conor Doyle, Niall Drennan, Adam Clifford, Bobby Brennan, James Kenny and Sean Morrissey defeated Cork 90-27 and then went on to win the All Ireland Final defeating Tyrone on a score-line of 90-22. Congratulations and very well done.


In the Juvenile County 40 x 20 championships BU10B Doubles representing Kells were Darragh McCormack/Matthew Corr and Steven Hoyne/Robbie Lyons who all played great but didn’t make the Final. In the Juvenile County 40 x 20 championships, in BU11B Doubles Mattie Murphy/Ronan O’Mahony (Kells) lost out in Group 2. Timmy Corr/Daniel Darwick (Kells) won out Group 1 and went on to defeated Rian Dowling/Dan Carroll (Talbots Inch) in the Final. Congratulations and very well done to you all.



Thank You to all who attended the recent public meetings in Dunnamaggin and in Kilmoganny. There was a great turnout at both and plenty of ideas about what can be done do to improve Dunnamaggin Parish for the people who live in all parts of it. A working group has been formed and work will begin based on the suggestions received at both meetings.The group is looking for more people from the Kilmoganny part of the parish to join it. Allied Forces in World War 2: Do you know anyone from Dunnamaggin and the surrounding town lands who served in the Allied Forces in World War 2. A memorial is planed for those who died and all who served will be included on a database for to record them for future generations. Captain Pat Walsh - Commemorative Weekend 20th and 21st April:


Easter Saturday 20th April: 7:30pm Historical Lecture in the Old School Hall, Dunnamaggin: ‘Kilkenny during the War of Independence’. Presented by Eoin Swithin Walsh. Focus will be given to how Dunnamaggin was affected during the war.


Easter Sunday 21st April:


11:00am: Parade from Old School to Pat Walsh Monument Partaking in the parade will be: The Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel, The Dr. O’ Hurley Pipe Band, The Reserve Defence Force, The Ladies Gaelic Football Club, The Adult and Juvenile G.A.A. Club, Irish dancers and singers, The Scouts.


12:00 noon - Easter Drama and Egg Hunt: All ages up to 6th class are welcome to come along to the Dunamaggin School to help the Easter Bunny get her Easter Eggs back from the Big Bad Wolf…! Entry is free!


6:00pm – 9:00pm Music in Townsends Pub: John Joe O’ Farrell and Richie Cahill make their long awaited debut in Townsends Bar. Raffle with fantastic prizes available on the night.




Easter Open Mic Kilmoganny. 8.00pm Thursday 25th April. All singers, musicians, story tellers, and audience members welcome. A particularly warm welcome to people who are learning their craft and have not performed before an audience before. No charge.



'Keeping it Delightful' The next 'Keeping it Delightful' Coffee Morning and Recycling Event will take place in Kilmoganny Hall from 10.30am to 1.00pm on Tuesday 30th April. Everyone welcome. Put the date in your diary. More details next week.

Mega Easter Market at Mullins Mill, Kells Co Kilkenny next Sunday 21st April.  Lots of stalls with food and crafts.  Art exhibition -  face  painting -  Kiddies Easter Bonnet Competition - all day egg hunt and lots more.  Market starts at 11am until 4pm
