THE MONTHLY MASS FOR CHILDREN who will be receiving their First Holy Communion next May will be celebrated on Sunday next 20th November at 11.00 a.m. in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan.

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION: As part of the preparation of children for the sacrament of Confirmation on the children will take part in the programme “You Shall be My Witnesses”. The programme takes place on four Wednesday evenings in St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan November 30th; December 7th and January 11th & 18th. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Sunday 29th January 2012. Parents of children will facilitate the children for the programme.


 


PRE-CHRISTMAS GET TOGETHER for all Mums, Grans & Girls in St. Leonard’s School Hall on Thursday 1st December. It is based on the idea of an American Tea Party. Lots of Savories, treats etc and great prizes. If you would like to be included contact St. Leonard’s School or Maireád O’Donnell (056-7728118). Admission €13. Proceeds in Aid of St. Leonard’s School. An Auction will take place on the night. Donations of items for the auction would be appreciated.


 


THE BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE will visit the Parochial Hall, Callan on next Tuesday 22nd November from 4.30 - 8.00 p.m.

THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS next production of the comedy Sailor Beware will be staged in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny from Tuesday 6th to Friday 9th December, inclusive. Tickets will be available very soon from Kilmoganny P.O.


DUNAMAGGAN SCHOOL GIRLS FOOTBALL TEAM comprising of girls from St. Brigid’s School, Kells and St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan defeated the Rower-Inistioge by one point in the quarterfinals and now meet Tullaroan in the Semi-Final next Thursday.


 


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB had a number of players involved in the Leinster Inter Club championship.  The Junior B Team of Brendan Burke, Diarmuid Burke, Anthony Martin and Dan Breen overcame stiff opposition when they met Monavea (Laois) team of Andrew Dowling, Peter Whelan, Brian Whelan and Páraic Buggy. They finished level on 104 aces each. Brendan and Anthony teamed up in the tie break to defeat Andrew Dowling and Peter Whelan in a very exciting finish to the game winning out 21 – 11. In the Leinster final held in Monavea they played Garryhill (Carlow). A strong Garryhill defeated Kells in a great Leinster Final 



The Kells Intermediate Inter club team of Peter Funchion, Patrick Funchion, Ger McGrath and Eamon Foley reached the Leinster Final which was played in Ballymore Eustace on Saturday 5th November after receiving a w/o from Kells (Meath) but they were beaten by Coolboy (Wicklow) team of Jerome Willoughby, Peter Lennon, Pat Quaile and Keith Kavanagh in a great game of skill and determination but losing out 100 – 78 aces.  


The Junior Nationals Irish 40 x 20 were held in Kilkenny over the past weekend of 12th/13th November, 2011.  Kells participants were in the U 11 Doubles Dylan Crehan and Dillon Wall, in the Boys 13 and Under B Singles Roy Cullen, Conor Murphy, Brian Farrell, Jack Crehan, Conor Condon and in the Boys 17 and Under B Singles Brendan Hyland In the Girls 13 and Under B Singles Aoife Walsh, in Girls 15 and Under A Singles Sarah Molloy, in Girls 15 and Under B Singles Karen Walsh and in Girls 17 and Under B Singles Marie Walsh. Congratulations to all who played in the tournament and hard luck to Marie Walsh who lost out to Aoife Landers Dungarvan, Waterford in the Girls 17 and Under B singles final.
