THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS next Production "Sailor Beware", an old english classic comedy of 3 acts which has some wonderful comic characters will be staged in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny from December Tuesday 6th – Friday 9th, inclusive at 8.15 p.m. sharp. Tickets are on sale at Kilmoganny P.O., 051 - 648001, Moran’s shop, 051 - 648283, Dunphy’s Bar 051 - 648252. Admission €10 (concessions €7 on Tuesday night only). The director is Michael Dowling and the cast includes: Caroline Doran, Willie Kearney, Biddy Hawe, David Audoire, Seán O’Brien, Aoife O’Neill, Loraine Moore, Melissa Enright and Pete Dunne.

EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS BELL which is traveling throughout Ireland will be in the Diocese of Ossory in Early January 2012. The Bell will be in Dunamaggan on Tuesday 10th January 2012 in the evening. It is expected that there will be special devotions that evening in the Church. Further details will be available later.


 


HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN: The next meeting takes place on Thursday 1st December at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. All are welcome.


 


L’ARCHE CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR will take place on Sunday 27th November from 12.00 - 5.00 p.m. in L’Arche Workshop, Callan. Items include: Weaving, Cards, Candles, Pottery, Garden Products, Christmas Wreaths, Tea/Coffee, Cakes, Raffle, Santa, Wheel of Fortune etc. Your support is very welcome.


 


DARTS EXHIBITION: On Saturday 3rd December in Shirley’s, Kells at 8.30 p.m. Andy The Pie man Smith will take on all comers and give an exhibition. The event is in support of Dunamaggan Hurling Club. Your support is very welcome.


 


A PRE-CHRISTMAS GET TOGETHER for all Mums, Grans & Girls in St. Leonard’s School Hall on Thursday 1st December. It is based on the idea of an American Tea Party. Lots of Savories, treats etc and great prizes. If you would like to be included contact St. Leonard’s School or Maireád O’Donnell (056-7728118). Admission €13. Proceeds are in Aid of St. Leonard’s School. An Auction will take place on the night. Donations of items for the auction would be appreciated.


 


THE BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE will visit the Parochial Hall, Callan on Tuesday 22nd November from 4.30 - 8.00 p.m. Your support is always very welcome.

COOLAGH CARDS: This Thursday and every Thursday the Christmas Card game of 25’s takes place in Coolagh Hall. There are plenty of prizes to be won including hams and hampers. Tea and refreshments served. Chairman of the local Committee, Billy Maher said the games are now in progress over thirty years and all are welcome.


 


THE NEXT SOUTH KILKENNY HISTORICAL SOCIETY lecture is on Knockroe passage tomb and the mysterious Stone Age of south Kilkenny. The speaker is Muiris O’Suilleabhan, Associate Professor, School of Archaeology, U.C.D. It takes place on this Thursday, November 24th at 8.00 p.m. in Mullinavat Parish Hall (opposite church). Admission: €5 (members free)


 


DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB & KILMOGANNY FOOTBALL CLUBS will hold their respective A.G.M.s on Friday 2nd December in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan. All players and members are invited to attend. Details of the meeting times will be available next week.


 


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The 40x20 Junior Nationals were held in Kilkenny venues over the weekend of 12th/13th November, 2011.  The Kells participants were: U 11Boys Doubles Dylan Crehan/Dillon Wall: Boys 13  B Singles Roy Cullen, Conor Murphy, Brian Farrell, Jack Crehan and Conor Condon; Boys 17  B Singles Brendan Hyland; Girls 13 B Singles Aoife Walsh; Girls 15 A Singles Sarah Molloy; Girls 15 B Singles Karen Walsh; Girls 17 B Singles Marie Walshe.


Congratulations to all who played in the Nationals and hard luck to Marie Walshe who lost out to Aoife Landers (Dungarvan, Waterford) in the Girls 17 B singles final 21-19, 21-12.


 Membership is now due for Juvenile and Adult Members

‘TIME OUT FOR WOMEN’ is a social and educational project for Women in Callan and its hinterland that provides training on a wide range of informational and practical topics. Some of the subjects that will be covered include: Calligraphy, Mosaic, Restoring Antique furniture, Financial Advice Workshop, Easter Flower arranging, Basic First Aid, Stress Management (relaxation), Cookery, Dress Making (alterations), CV work shop  & computers. The project is aimed at single mothers, unemployed women and women with less than leaving certificate standard of education.. This programme will be run 2 days per week over 6 months. It will run every Tuesday and Thursday (school term) from 9.30am - 12.30pm. There will be approximately 15 people on the programme.
