THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS next Production Sailor Beware, an old english classic comedy of 3 acts which has some wonderful comic characters will be staged in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny from next Tuesday 6th December to Friday 9th, inclusive at 8.15 p.m. sharp. There will be no admission once the drama has commenced. Tickets are on sale at Kilmoganny P.O., 051 - 648001, Moran’s shop, 051 - 648283, Dunphy’s Bar 051 - 648252. Admission €10 (concessions €7 on Tuesday night only). The director is Michael Dowling and the cast includes: Caroline Doran, Willie Kearney, Biddy Hawe, David Audoire, Seán O’Brien, Aoife O’Neill, Loraine Moore, Melissa Enright and Pete Dunne.

DARTS EXHIBITION: On this Saturday 3rd December all Darts enthusiasts are invited to Shirley’s, Kells at 8.30 p.m. where Andy The Pie man Smith will take on all comers and give an exhibition. The event is in support of Dunamaggan Hurling Club. Your support is very welcome.


 


A PRE-CHRISTMAS GET TOGETHER for all Mums, Grans & Girls in St. Leonard’s School Hall on tomorrow Thursday 1st December. It is based on the idea of an American Tea Party. Lots of Savories, treats etc and great prizes. If you would like to be included contact St. Leonard’s School or Maireád O’Donnell (056-7728118). Admission €13. Proceeds are in Aid of St. Leonard’s School. An Auction will take place on the night. Donations of items for the auction would be appreciated.


DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB & KILMOGANNY FOOTBALL CLUBS will hold their respective A.G.M.s on this Friday 2nd December in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan. All players and members are invited to attend. The first meeting begins at 7.30 p.m..


 


A TABLE QUIZ will be held in Shirley’s Pub, Kells on this Friday 2nd December at 9.00 p.m.. The proceeds are in aid of the Senior Citizen’s Christmas party which takes place on Sunday 18th December in Shirley’s. It is €40 per table of four for the table quiz and your support would be very welcome.


 


THE DUNAMAGGAN PASTISH PASTORAL COUNCIL will hold its next meeting on this Tuesday 6th December in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan. Among the items on its agenda are preparations for Christmas including Carol Service in Kilmoganny on Friday 16th December and Penitential services, the preparation for the Eucharistic Congress Bell which will be in the parish on the evening of Tuesday 10th January and reports from the Deanery Pastoral Council.


 


CONFIRMATION PREPARATION: The four evenings of parish preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation in Dunamaggan Parish will begin this Wednesday 30th November in St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan for the 35 children from the three schools in the parish, Kells, Kilmoganny and Dunamaggan. The programme entitled You Shall be My Witnesses is facilitated by parents of the children. In all there will be five groups of seven children with each group facilitated by two parents. The second evening will be on Wednesday December 7th. The final two sessions will be on January 11th and 18th. Each session begins at 7.00 p.m. and concluded by 8.00 p.m.


 


THE ANNUAL CARDS for hams and Hampers takes place in Dunphy’s, Kilmoganny on every Tuesday night.


 


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The Kilkenny County Board are currently running a County 40 x 20 Open Tournament. The Kells participants are Anthony Martin, Marie Walshe, Peter Funchion, Brendan Burke, John Fitzgerald, Patrick Funchion, Brian Manogue, Eamon Foley, Diarmuid Burke and Ian O’Dwyer. In the games played so far: Peter Funchion (Kells) defeated Eoin Brannigan (O’Loughlin’s) and Johnny Brennan (Mothel); Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Keith Walsh (O’Loughlin’s) and John Fitzgerald (Kells); Rachel Hogan (Kilfane) defeated Marie Walshe (Kells); Patrick Funchion (Kells) defeated Ian O’Dwyer (Kells); Brian Manogue (Kells) defeated Chris Dunne (O’Loughlin’s).


An Awards presentation night will be held on Friday 2nd December 2011 at 7.00 p.m. in O'Loughlin’s Court 1 for all Juvenile 60 x 30 County Winners. Kells representatives are Dylan Crehan (U 10 B), Eoin Brennan (U 11 B), Liam Walshe (U 14 B), Roy Cullen (U 13 A), Stephen O’Dwyer (U 17 A) and Karen Walshe/Aoife Walsh (U 14 A). Congratulations to all the winners.


 


THE WEDDING of Mary Lahart, Goodwinsgardens, Dunamaggan and William Walsh, Windgap was celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Friday 18th November. The chief celebrant was Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. assisted by Rev. Noel Hanrahan, who officiated at the wedding of Mary’s Parents Dessie (r.i.p.) and Nellie over 40 years ago. The bridesmaid was Aine Walsh and Nigel O’Donovan was best man. Niamh Walsh was junior bridesmaid with Ellen Lahart, Emma Lahart, Orla Walsh, Kate O’Brien, Grace Lahart and Alana Lahart as flower girls. Eoin O’Brien, Niall O’Brien and Ronan O’Brien were page boys.


Members of the family read the readings, prayers of the faithful and communion reflection. Carol Smith was the soloist. In addition to lighting the three candles symbolising their marriage William and Mary also lit a candle in memory of Mary’s father Dessie. The gifts were presented by both mothers. There was a very unique aspect to the wedding as both bride and groom were born on the same day in St. Luke’s Hospital.
