DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB presented the player of the year and clubman of the year awards in The Priory Bar, Kells last Friday night. The winner of the player of the year was Canice Hickey and the clubman of the year award went to long serving club secretary Eugene O’Donovan who stepped down this year after 16 years in the position. A bouquet of flowers was also presented to his wife Siobhán fore her dedication and assistance during this time. Special presentations were made to Noel Hickey and David Herity on winning All0Ireland Medals with the Kilkenny Senior Hurling team. Richie O’Neill presented the Mgr. Patrick O’Neill trophy to Canice Hickey. Mgr O’Neill who died recently was remembered for his dedication to his work and to Dunamaggan.

THE CHRISTMAS MASS TIMES are in St. Eoghan’s Church Kilmoganny at 7.00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 9.30 a.m. on Christmas day and in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Christmas Eve at 9.00 p.m. and at 11.00 a.m. on Christmas day. 


THE KELLS WELLINGTON RACE will take place on St. Stephen’s Day at about 2.00 p.m. It is an ideal opportunity for activities to resume after the Christmas festivities.


KILMOGANNY U 16 FOOTBALLERS by defeating Tullaroan on a scoreline of 7 – 7 to 4 – 4 in difficult conditions under lights in Piltown last Friday night now advance to the County Final. 


CHRISTMAS CAROL SINGING AND SWITCHING ON OF CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, in preparation for Christmas, took place in Kilmoganny on last Friday 16th December when the oldest citizen in Kilmoganny James Builder Walsh, who is 95 years young, switched on the lights and then gave a rendition of the song The Coolagh Maid. Refreshments were served to young and old in the St. Eoghan’s Centre after the celebrations.


On last Sunday 18th December at the Cross in Kells a similar celebration took place with the added attraction of Santa presenting gifts to the children. On both occasions Parish Priest, Rev. Nicholas Flavin imparted a blessing.


THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS NIGHT CARDS, progressive 25’s, will take place in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. on Christmas night 25th. The proceeds are in aid of St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny.


A FASHION SHOW WITH A DIFFERENCE will be held in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Friday 6th January at 8.30 p.m. featuring outfits from Enable Ireland, Kilkenny & Sue Ryder, Carrick on Suir. Admission is €5. The proceeds are in aid of Sue Ryder, Enable Ireland, St. Michael’s Church and St. Joseph’s Home. Tickets are available from P. Moran and Kilmoganny P.O.. A NEW YEAR’S EVE GALA EVENING in aid of L’Arche, Kilmoganny will take place in Dunphy’s Lounge, Kilmoganny. The evening commences with a Darts Tournament at 4.00 p.m.. The competitions are men’s doubles and ladies singles. There are prizes for 1st and 2nd place. The entry fee is €10. A Cabaret will take place from 10.00 p.m. with music by Paddy Blanch, featuring the best of ‘60’s, ‘70’s, ‘80’s, ‘90’s music and ringing in the New Year. Admission to the cabaret is €5.
