OPERATION TRANSFORMATION training sessions are on Monday, Wednesday & Friday Evenings at 7.30 p.m. The assemble point is at St. Leonard’s School Dunnamaggin at 7.30 p.m. SHARP. The training is open to all and everyone is welcome to join in with the team as often as they like for the 8 weeks. All participants are asked to bring High Visibility Vests and suitable outdoor footwear. Training on Sunday Mornings is in Castlemorris Wood at 10.00 a.m. There will be an Outing to Castlecomer Discovery Park on Saturday 14th January for 11.00 a.m. Walk. So far the team of 15 has been joined by at least their own number. This is a great opportunity for keeping fit and getting to know others. New participants are very welcome.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING REPORT: (1) Thanks was expressed to Pat & Teresa Weeks for lighting the Grotto during Christmas. (2) All Parishioners are asked to think about which parishes, in the future, should be linked together for the provision of Pastoral services such as appropriate mass time etc. Details of the Parish meeting will be finalized in February. (3) On behalf of the people of Dunamaggan, the Council expressed its sympathy to the people of Windgap on the recent death of their parish Priest, Rev. Martin Cleere.


 


THE ANNUAL MASS FOR CHILDREN who died in infancy and/or pre-birth and their families will be celebrated on Saturday 21st January at 7.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny.


 


THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION will be celebrated in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on Sunday 29th January during mass at 11.00 a.m. NOTE: Mass times on Sunday 29th January will be reversed between Dunamaggan and Kilmoganny. The children who are receiving their confirmation will resume their Wednesday evening parish preparation programme on this Wednesday 11th January at 7.00 p.m. in St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan. The final preparation session will be on Wednesday 18th.


 


DUNAMAGGAN JUVENILE HURLING CLUB A.G.M. will take place on this Friday 13th January at 7:30 p.m. in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan. Parents of Juvenile members and all others interested in Juvenile Hurling and Football are invited to attend.


 


FASHION SHOW: A very successful fashion show was staged in St. Eoghan’s Hall, Kilmoganny on Friday last 6th January by Charlotte Daniels assisted by Maura Moore. The proceeds were in aid of St. Michael’s Church, Kilmoganny, St. Joseph’s Home, Kilmoganny, Enable Ireland and Sue Ryder. The models were all local. The quality of the garments on show, all of which were from either Enable Ireland, Kilkenny or Sue Ryder, Carrick on Suir, was of the highest standard and the prices of the garments were very reasonable.


 


TIME OUT FOR WOMEN is a social and educational project for Women in Callan and its hinterland that provides training on a wide range of informational and practical topics. Some of the subjects that will be covered include: Calligraphy, Card making, Woodwork for Beginners, Financial Advice Workshop (MABS), Easter Flower arranging, Basic First Aid, Stress Management (relaxation) , Cookery, CV work shop (VEC)  and computers. This programme will be run 2 days per week over 6 months. It will run every Tuesday and Thursday (school term) from 9.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. There will be approximately 15 people on the programme so places are limited.
