DUNAMAGGAN JUVENILE G.A.A. PRESENTATIONS will take place on next Saturday 28th January at 4.00 p.m. in the Priory Bar, Kells. Presentations will be made to the U 16 Hurlers and Footballers, the U 14 Hurlers and to those Dunamaggan Hurlers who were part of the three in a row Community Games winning team.


An U 12 Hurling league will take place in Wallslough every Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. starting on this Wednesday, 25th January. The cost is €3 per child per night. For further information, contact Denis Walsh on 087 2736929 or John Fitzpatrick on 086 8069201.

BRIDGE CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS will commence in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Wednesday 1st February at 8.00 p.m. Classes will run for 10 weeks and the cost of the classes is €20. No card playing knowledge is required. For further information contact 087 – 2257498.


THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION will be celebrated in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on next Sunday 29th January during 11.00 a.m. mass. The Sunday mass next Sunday in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan will be celebrated at 9.30 a.m. because of the confirmation ceremony in Kilmoganny.


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In Leinster Junior B Doubles Brendan Burke & Diarmuid Burke (Kells) defeated P.J. Tobin/Damien Carty (Kildare) and Dan Breen and Anthony Martin (Kells) defeated Tommy Archibald/Fergal Byrne (Kildare). In U 21 Singles Peter Funchion (Kells) received a walkover from Eoghan Hennessy (Clogh); in Minor Singles Cian Daly (Dublin) defeated Cillian Treacy (Kells) and in Ladies Junior B Singles Maria Walshe (Kells) defeated Amanda Kelly (Wexford).


In the Juvenile 40 x 20 County Doubles Kells U 12 Girls Kerrianne Power and Sophie Thomas were unlucky to be beaten in the final by O’Loughlin’s; In the Girls U 15 Doubles Elaine Power and Sarah Molloy (Kells) were also beaten in the final by Clogh.  In the Boys U 12 Doubles Eoin Brennan and Michael Power (Kells) were very unlucky to be beaten in the final by Kilfane 11-6; in the U 13 Doubles Conor Condon and Rory Lodge (Kells) were beaten in the semi final by Clogh; in the U 14 Doubles Roy Cullen and Jack Crehan (Kells) beat Clogh in the Final 15-2, 15-4; in the U 16 Doubles Robbie Donnelly and Alan Funchion (Kells) were beaten by Clogh who won the final; in the U 17 Doubles Sean Tierney and Brendan Hyland (Kells) were beaten in the final by Clogh 11-8 in the tie break. 


In the Juvenile County 40 x 20 Championship in the Girls U 12 Singles Dearbhail O’Keeffe (Kilfane) defeated Sophie Thomas (Kells), in the Girls U 14 Singles Aoife Holden (Kilfane) defeated Aoife Walsh (Kells), in the  Girls U 15 Singles Karen Walshe (Kells) defeated Aine Dunne (Windgap) in the final, in the Girls U 16 Singles Kirsty Maher (Kells) defeated Deirdre Purcell (Windgap) in the final and in the Girls U 17 Singles Mary Buggy (Clogh) defeated Caroline Murphy (Kells) in the final. In the Boys U 12 Singles Eoin Brennan (Kells) was beaten by Jack Holden (Kilfane) in the U 13 Singles Conor Murphy (Kells) defeated Pat Grace (Windgap) in the final, in the U 14 Singles Roy Cullen (Kells) was beaten by Shane Dunne (Clogh) in the final, in the U 15 singles Jack Crehan (Kells) was beaten by Padraig Cooney (Clogh), in the U 16 Singles Robbie Donnelly (Kells) was beaten by John Walsh (Mullinavat) and in the U 17 singles Brendan Hyland (Kells) was beaten by Darragh O’Shea (Windgap). Well done to all who participated and tried their best and congratulations to the winners.

THE OPERATION TRANSFORMATION Dunamaggan group is continuing to attract new participants to its walks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7.30 p.m. sharp from St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan and on Sunday mornings at 10.00 a.m. in Castlemorris Wood. The sessions each last about one hour. Anyone is welcome to join the group for any for the sessions. There are now into their third of eight weeks fitness action.
