BRIDGE CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS will commence in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on this Wednesday 8th February at 8.00 p.m. Classes will run for 10 weeks and the cost of the classes is €20. No card playing knowledge is required. For further information contact 087 – 2257498.

THE HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN group will meet on next Tuesday 14th February in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m.. Anyone who has material which they consider relevant to the publication or are interested in the history are invited to attend. To date over 140 pages of the material has had its initial editing. The committee would request that those who have material for submission would do so in the immediate future.


 


THE MONTHLY MASS FOR CHILDREN who will receive their First Holy Communion next May will be celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on next Sunday 12th February.


 


DUNAMAGGIN G.A.A. CLUB REGISTRATION and payment of membership will take place in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan on Sundays 19th & 26th February after 11.00 a.m. mass each Sunday for both Adult and Juvenile members.  The Club also intends to organize a talent contest during the month of April with the final in early May. It is hoped to have heats for the contest in each of the three Villages, Kells, Dunamaggan and Kilmoganny with the final in Kells. Further details will be available very soon.


 


ST. LEONARD’S SCHOOL, DUNAMAGGAN VOLLYBALL TEAM won the Kilkenny Championships last week. The mixed team of Emma Denny (Captain), Hazel McEnery, Nicole McCormack, Ian Walsh, Robbie McCauley and Daniel Power won all their matches in the competition and now qualify for the Regional Finals in Cork. The other two teams (one boy's and one girl's) played very well but made their exits at the semi-final stage.


 


ENROLMENTS FOR SEPTEMBER 2012: Parents/guardians are requested to enrol their children who will be commencing primary school next September in the parish schools of St. Brigid’s, Kells, St. Eoghan’s, Kilmoganny or St. Leonard’s Dunamaggan as soon as possible so as to enable the school Principals plan for the coming year.


 


KELLS SCOUTS WHO ARE CELEBRATING 10 YEARS ask you to 'Join them for a Stroll in Kells'. The meeting up point is at Kells Scout Den at 2.00 p.m. on Sunday February 26th.  All are welcome to come along and stroll, catch up, relax and have a chat. All ages are welcome from 0 to 99.  There is NO ENTRY FEE.  Complimentary refreshments will be available and a bucket raising money for St. Joseph's Home, Kilmoganny will be there on the day should anyone wish to make a donation.


 


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the juvenile county 40 x 20 championship the Girls U 10 and U 11 Singles were played in Kells on Friday 3rd February In girls U 10 Singles Hannah Lodge (Kells) was beaten by Roisin O’Keeffe (Kilfane) who was the eventual winner.  In Girls U 11 Singles Laura Condon (Kells) was defeated by Ciara O’Keeffe (Kilfane) in the semi final. The boys U 10 and U 11 Singles were played on Sunday 5th February In the boys U 10 Singles Joe Cowhig (Kells) was defeated by Peter McDonald (Kilfane) and in boys U 11 Singles Dylan Crehan (Kells) was beaten by Thomas Brennan (Clogh).


In the adult county 40 x 20 championships in senior B Singles Patrick Funchion (Kells)  received a walkover from Patrick Nolan (Mothel); in intermediate singles Diarmuid Burke (Kells) received a walkover from John Morrissey (O’Loughlin’s); in intermediate doubles Anthony Martin/ Dan Breen (Kells) were beaten by Philly Lonergan /Part (Windgap); in minor singles Fergal Lalor (Talbot’s Inch) received a walkover from Ger Dunne (Kells) and in minor doubles Cillian Treacy/Stephen O’Dwyer (Kells) defeated Fergal Lalor/Enda O’Donoghue (Talbot’s Inch). 


In the Adult Leinster 40 x 20 championship in intermediate doubles Nicholas Anthony (Mullinavat)/Brian Manogue (Kells) defeated  Conor O’Brien/David Hope (Offaly); in junior B Doubles Diarmuid & Brendan Burke (Kells)  defeated  Jason Murphy/David Kenny (Wexford); in junior B Doubles Darren O’Toole/Malachy Whelan (Wexford)  defeated Anthony Martin/Dan Breen (Kilkenny) and in Ladies Junior B Doubles Marie Walshe (Kells)/Rachel Hogan (Kilfane) defeated Julie Walsh/Catherine Foley (Windgap).


In the 40 x 20 Intervarsities Singles which took place in Kingscourt over the weekend the Kells representatives in this years event were Andrew O’Dwyer and John Fitzgerald (both with University of Limerick). Andrew defeated Sean Foley (UCD) before losing to Eddie Halligan (UCD) in the Men’s B Quarter Final. John Fitzgerald was defeated in the 2nd round of the Men’s C.


DUNAMAGGAN JUVENILE G.A.A. U12 Hurling league is in Wallslough every Wednesday evening from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. It costs €3 per child per night.
