A MEETING OF PARISHIONERS OF DUNAMAGGAN PARISH will take place in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on next Tuesday 6th Mach at 8.00 p.m.. At the meeting the Parish Council will review its activities for the past year and invite suggestions as how it may continue to be effective in responding to the need of parishioners. All parishioners are invited to attend the meeting. The Parish Council would invite suggestions as to how the parish should prepare for the inevitable changes which will occur in future years due to the decline in the number of priest


FUN CASINO NIGHT IN AID OF MULLINS MILL, Tuck Mill, and island, the island walk and bridge between Hutchinson’s Mill and the priory and the Mill Pond.  All these belong to the people of Kells and are held in trust by K.R.E.E. Ltd. The cost of insurance and upkeep is between €8,000 and €10,000 per annum. In previous years rental income generated much of this cost but not so in the current year. A Fun Casino Night will be held in The Priory Bar on next Saturday 3rd March at 9.00 p.m. Entrance and betting chips is €15. Black Jack, Texas Hold’em, Roulette, High/Low + fun events, great prizes and finger food.

KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the National Open Senior Singles Peter Funchion (Kells) got a walkover from Peter Hughes (Wexford) and was beaten by Paul Brady (Cavan) in the next round.


In the County 40 x 20 championships in the Special Junior B Singles Dan Breen (Kells) defeated P.J. Barron (Windgap); in the Ladies Singles Marie Walsh (Kells) received a walkover from Ciara Mahon (Clogh); in the Senior B Singles Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Stephen Barco (Goresbridge) and in the Junior B Singles Andrew O’Dwyer (Kells) defeated Alan Smith (O’Loughlin’s). 


In the Leinster 40 x 20 Championship in the Intermediate Doubles Final Miley Cash/Mikey Berry (Wexford) defeated Nicholas Anthony (Mullinavat) and Brian Manogue (Kells).  In U 21 Doubles Patrick & Peter Funchion (Kells) defeated Keith Kavanagh/Partner (Wicklow) and in the U 21 Doubles Final they defeated Eoghan Hennessy/Pauric Maher (Clogh). In the Junior B Doubles Final Brendan & Diarmuid Burke (Kells) were beaten by Darren O’Toole/Malachy Whelan (Wexford).


In the first round of the Leinster Juvenile 40 x 20 championship in the U 14 Doubles Roy Cullen (Kells) and his partner Marc Purcell (Clogh) defeated C. Smith/D. Geugan (Offaly); in the U 17 Singles Brendan Hyland (Kells) received a walkover from Eoin Hickey (Offaly); in the U 12 Doubles Eoin Brennan (Kells) with his partner Jack Hayes (Windgap) defeated C. Kelly/C. Mulhall (Laois); in U 13 Singles Conor Murphy (Kells) received a walkover from Padraig Delaney (Laois); in the Girls U 15 Singles Karen Walshe (Kells) defeated Laura Walsh (Laois) and in the Girls U 16 Singles Kirsty Maher (Kells) defeated Niamh Nolan (Laois).
