THE HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN GROUP will hold its next meeting on next Monday 12th March at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. All who have an interest in the topic or have relevant material are welcome to attend.

THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS are now well into their rehearsals for their next production Many Young Men of Twenty which will be staged immediately after Easter from Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th April. Tickets will be on sale from the usual outlets in a few weeks time.


TICKETS FOR THE EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS final celebration in Croke Park on Sunday 12th June are restricted to 12 for each parish. Those from Dunamaggan Parish who are interested in the tickets should contact Ned Kirwan, Chairperson, Pascal Grace, Secretary, of the Parish Pastoral Council or Rev. Nicholas Flavin. If the number requesting tickets exceeds the supply then a lottery will have to be used.


 


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the National Open Senior Doubles Brian Manogue Kells with his partner Nicky Anthony Mullinavat defeated Colm Joran and D. Cahill Cork.  Patrick and Peter Funchion Kells received a walkover from Dominic Lynch and JJ Quirke Kerry but were beaten by Paul Brady and Michael Finnegan Cavan.


In the county 40 x 20 championships in Junior B Doubles John Fitzgerald/Andrew O’Dwyer Kells received a walkover from Kevin Law and partner Mullinavat; in Minor Singles Brendan Hyland (Kells) defeated  Patrick Brennan (Mothel); in Minor Singles Stephen O’Dwyer (Kells) defeated Sean Tierney (Kells). 


In the Juvenile Leinster 40 x 20 championships in the U 12 Doubles Eoin Brennan Kells and Jack Hayes Windgap defeated Carlow (Eoin Hosey / Cormac O’Brien); in the U 13 Singles Conor Murphy Kells defeated Carlow (Liam Murphy); in the U 14 Doubles Mark Purcell Clogh and Roy Cullen Kells defeated Kildare (Kevin Diggins / Kevin Tobin); in the  U 17 Singles Brendan Hyland Kells defeated Carlow (Joey Curtis); in the  U 15 Singles Karen Walshe Kells was beaten by Kildare (Saoirse Sunderland).


In the All Ireland semi finals of the 40 x 20 championship unfortunately Brendan Burke (Kells) lost out to John Ferncombe (Tipperary) in a very closely fought contest over two games.


 


A TAKE AWAY OPENED in the former Townsend’s Shop in Dunamaggan last Friday evening. James O’Connor who is the lessee of Townsend’s Pub is the man behind the new business venture. He is wished every success with his new business.
