KELLS HANDBALL CLUB ALL-IRELAND SUCCESS:-


In the Juvenile All Ireland Semi Finals in Girls U 16 Singles Kirsty Maher, Kells defeated Anna Prendeville Kerry 21-13, 21-3 and unfortunately in Boys 17 Singles Brendan Hyland Kells was defeated by Padraig Quish Limerick 21-5, 21-5.  In the All Ireland Final of U 21 Singles Patrick Funchion Kells defeated Terry McElvanney Monaghan 21-13, 21-6. Congratulations and well done to all on their fantastic achievements.

HOLY WEEK CEREMONIES will take place during Holy Week 5th – 7th April at the following times: In St. Eoghan’s Church Kilmoganny at 7.00 p.m. on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday; In St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan at 8.0 p.m. on Holy Thursday, at 3.00 p.m. on Good Friday and at 9.00 p.m. on Holy Saturday. Penitential services will take place on Good Friday.

A TABLE QUIZ in aid of Kells Scouts will take place in Shirley’s, Kells on this Saturday 24th March at 9.00 p.m.. A Table of 4 is €40. A Raffle will be held and refreshments will be served on the night. Your support is very welcome.


 


THE ANNUAL EASTER SUNDAY PARADE in honor of Pat Walsh Parade will take place in Dunamaggan after 11.00 a.m. Mass. It is expected that the usual color party from the reserve defence forces will be present at mass. That evening in O’Connor’s, Dunamaggan a cabaret will be held with the proceeds going to the Parade Committee and to Dunamaggan Juvenile G.A.A. Club. You are asked to give this event your support.


 


DUNAMAGGIN G.A.A. CLUB is currently preparing a 5 Year Strategic plan which will cover the following areas;1. Coaching & Games Development; 2. Club Structures & Administration; 3. Finance & Fundraising; 4. Facilities & Development; 5. Communications/PR and Culture.


A meeting will be arranged (time & date to be confirmed) so that all members and interested parties can have an input in the development of this plan and it is hoped that as many people as possible will take the opportunity to contribute their ideas to this important process in our club’s development. THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS production of Many Young Men of Twenty will be staged in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th April. Tickets will be available shortly from the usual outlets.


 


THE ANNUAL BLESSED EDMUND RICE PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK will take place on Tuesday May 10th this year. The reason for the earlier date is because the normal date clashes with the Eucharistic Congress.


 


CIRCUIT TRAINING CLASSES will take place in Shirley’s, Kells on Monday nights starting on Monday 26th March from 7.30 p.m. - 8.30 p.m. Contact Ann on 087 – 7715311


 


 


A LOCAL LEAGUE FOR OLDER ADULT MEN: Those who are interested from Callan and the surrounding area are invited along to a demonstration morning in Droichead Family Resource Centre on Friday, 30th March at 9.30 a.m. with the hope of establishing a group to participate in an Older Adults Local League. Competitions will suit all levels and abilities, and activities include bowling, Caman Abu and speed stacks. All are welcome to try it out. A CV WORKSHOP organised by Kilkenny Leader Partnership who have designed an interactive workshop to focus on giving unemployed people some practical tips to improve their chances of gaining employment will take place Droichead FRC, Callan on Thursday, March 29th between 9.45am and 2pm. During the day topics will include, CV writing, cover letters, interview techniques, job search, work placement opportunities etc. The workshop will be in a relaxed informal atmosphere. DENNIS O’SULLIVAN late of Kilree, was laid to rest in Danesfort cemetery on last Monday week 19th March after 12.00 noon mass celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan. He is survived by his son, Michael and sister Mary Power, in-laws, grand children, many relatives and friends. The readings and prayers of the faithful at mass were read by members of his family and family members also presented the offertory gifts. Dennis was an active member of the farming community for many years. His remains were removed to St. Leonard’s Church on Sunday evening from his son’s home where they were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. who also celebrated the mass of Christian burial. Among the attendance were Cllrs Tom Maher and Billy Ireland and John Paul Phelan T.D.
