KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Juvenile 40 x 20 All Ireland Final in the Girls U16 Singles, Kirsty Maher, after some great victories in Leinster and the semi-final, came up against a very strong opponent in the final meeting Ciana Ní Churraoin from Galway and she had to settle for silver on the day. The Irish Adult 40 x 20 Nationals are being held over the weekend of 20th to 22nd April, 2012 in Ulster venues and participants from Kells Handball Club are Patrick Funchion, Peter Funchion, Brian Manogue, Brendan Burke and Dan Breen.  Good luck to all. For the 60 x 30 Leinster and County singles and doubles entries are now being sought and should be sent to Betty Funchion, Kells Club Secretary.
Attached is Photo of the All-Ireland Ladies Junior B Doubles All Ireland 40 x 20 winners for 2012. Marie Walshe (Kells) with her partner Rachel Hogan (Kilfane) representing Kilkenny defeated Roscommon (Aoife McDonagh/Marina Kilduff) 21-7, 21-4. This is the third successive week that All-Ireland honours have come to Kells Club.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL REPORT: (1) It was agreed that the mass for this year’s celebration of Welcome and Family on Thursday 26th July will be celebrated at St. Leonard’s Well. (2) A Mass & Celebration of Healing will be celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Tuesday 22nd May coinciding with the Ossory Pilgrimage to Lourdes. All are very welcome to the celebration especially sick, any one bereaved, stressed, etc. and those who may be house bound. Those who do not have transport are asked to contact any member of the committee so that transport may be arranged.; (3) The Annual mass for Examination Students will be celebrated in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on Saturday June 2nd at 7.00 p.m. (4) The Corpus Christi Procession will take place in Dunamaggan on Sunday 10th June after 11.00 a.m. mass. (5) Parishioners are requested to return the Trocaire boxes as soon as possible.


SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS production of Many Young Men of Twenty is being staged in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny this week until to Friday 20th April. Punctual attendance is required as door close before production commences. Tickets €10 available from: P.O. Kilmoganny, 051 - 648001; Moran’s, 051 - 648283; Dunphy’s Bar: 051 - 648252. A donation will be made to St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny.


PREPARATION FOR EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS: A celebration will take place in Mooncoin on Sunday 29th April from 2.30 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. including talks, discussion and concluding with mass. The celebration is for the 14 parishes in the South of the Diocese. All are welcome to attend. The afternoon commences with a talk on Living the Eucharist in our everyday lives by St. Antoinette Dilworth and Workshops for Young People. At 4.00 p.m. mass will be celebrated. The homily will be given by Fr. Michael Drumm. Refreshments will be available in Parish Hall after mass.


DUNAMAGGAN G.A.A. CLUB: A very well attended meeting took place in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan on last Friday evening, 13th April. The meeting was part of the planning phase of preparing the Club’s 5 year strategic plan.  John Buggy and John Comerford, from the County Board, facilitated the evening. Almost 60 people attended the event. The club invites anyone who was unable to attend the meeting to forward their ideas to any club committee member within the next two weeks. Club Chairperson, Rev. Nicholas Flavin, thanked John Comerford and John Buggy for faciliting the meeting and all those who attended and ensured that the meeting was productive.


CAMOGIE SUCCESS:   Congratulations to Niamh Phelan, Dunamaggan, who captained the Kilkenny minor camogie team to a 1 – 10 to 1 – 5 victory over Cork in the All-Ireland Semi-Final and to Michela Kenneally, Kilmoganny, a member of the team. Both girls play with Windgap Camogie club.
