Success For Kells Handball

In the County 40 x 20 Junior B Singles Final Andrew O’Dwyer Kells defeated Dennis Dowd St. Canices in a tough final; in the Masters B Doubles Final Pat Funchion/Paddy Fennelly Kells overcame tough opposition when they met Michael O’Shea /Jimmy Purcell (Windgap).



The Irish Adult 40 x 20 Nationals took place over the weekend in Ulster venues and in the Mens Open Singles Peter Funchion Kells was defeated by Joe McCann Mayo; in the Mens 23 and Under Patrick Funchion Kells was defeated by C.J. Fitzpatrick in the 3rd game; in the Mens A Brian Manogue Kells was defeated by Jerome Willoughby Wicklow; in the Mens C Brendan Burke Kells defeated Eamonn Todd, Monaghan, Conor O’Conor, Meath and after a tough battle defeated Peter Flanagan, Meath 11-7 in the 3rd game in the semi final but unfortunately lost out in the Final to Peter Reilly Meath; in Mens 23 and Under B Dan Breen Kells defeated Peter Harte(Tyrone) and then met Christopher McKenna Monaghan in the final but was unlucky to lose for the second year in a row in two hard fought games. Congratulations to Brendan and Dan on reaching the finals but hard luck on narrowly losing out in their finals.



In the DIT One Wall held over the weekend in Croke Park, Kells representatives in the Mens Open doubles were Dan Breen and Stephen O’Dwyer, who beat Robert Farrelly and Colin Melody but lost out to Darren Flynn and Seamus Casserly in the semi final. Hard luck to the lads in losing out in the semi final.
