DUNAMAGGAN NOTES
D.K.K. Lotto: The winning numbers of the November 22nd draw were: 3, 20, 23. There was no jackpot winner. The following won €30 each: Miriam Brennan, Noel Lahart, Maudie O’Neill, Ailish Anthony and Eugene O’Donovan. Next week’s jackpot will be worth €2,950. The Bingo jackpot on Saturday night’s in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny is now worth €480. The Pool number is worth €1,250.

Dinner Dance Postponed: The Dunamaggan Parish Dinner Dance which was scheduled for last Saturday night had to be postponed due to the severe weather conditions. The organizing committee had finalized arrangements the previous night and on Saturday morning awoke to a snow covered countryside with freezing temperatures forecast for Saturday night. The event has been postponed until the New Year and will probably take place during the latter half of January. The adverse weather conditions ensured that there was little traveling during the weekend. It has also resulted in the closure of the parish primary schools because of health and safety considerations.

Road Improvements: Cllr. Mat Doran expressed his thanks to Kilkenny Co. Council for the recent road repairs which were carried out in Dunamaggan Village. The road surfaces were damaged by the severe weather of last winter. He stated at a recent meeting that if the winter weather conditions adversely affect roads this year that such damage should be reported to the county council. At the same meeting he encouraged all farmers and householders to check for leaking pipes so as to avoid unnecessary loss of water.

The Dunamaggan Parish Pastoral Council at its meeting last Friday began its analysis of the parish questionnaires. The chairperson, Ned Kirwan, expressed his thanks to al who returned the questionnaires and to the thoughtfulness of their answers. The draft analysis of the questionnaires will be forwarded to Rev. John Hanna, Redemptorist, who will lead the parish mission at the end of February. The Pastoral Council recognized that many volunteers will be required for a variety of tasks in preparation for the mission. Its next meeting is on December 7th. It is expected to have a clearer understanding of the tasks which will have to be undertaken prior to the mission after that meeting. Anyone who wishes to assist in even a very small way may contact any member of the council.

A Cookery Demonstration and Food & Craft Fair will take place in the New Hall in St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan on this Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.. The demonstration will be given by Creative Catering. Local food products and crafts will be on sale.

The Christmas Party for senior citizens will take place in Shirley’s, Kells on Sunday 12th December. All senior citizens for the parish are invited and encouraged to attend this enjoyable event.
