BRIDGE LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS will commence in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on this Wednesday 3rd October at 8.00 p.m.. The classes which run for 10 successive Wednesdays. The cost for the 10 lessons is just €20 and this includes tea/coffee. Those who begin the lessons do not need any previous card playing experience. ENROLMENT MASS FOR CHILDREN of St. Leonard’s School, Dunamaggan, St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny and St. Brigid’s School, Kells who will receive their First Holy Communion next May will take place in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on next Sunday October 7th at 11.00 a.m..
KELLLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the County Juvenile 60 x 30 championships Kells were represented in the Boys U 10 Singles, by Joe Cowhig and in Boys U 11 Singles by Dylan Crehan. In the Boys U 10 Doubles, Joe Cowhig and Thomas Leahy were beaten in the final by Kilfane. In the Boys U 11 Doubles Dylan Crehan and Dillon Wall were beaten in the final by Clogh. In Boys U 10 B Singles Final Joe Cowhig (Kells) defeated Tom Holden (Kilfane); in the Boys U 11 B Singles Eamonn Brennan (Clogh) defeated Michael Prendergast (Kells); in the Boys U 12 B Singles Final David Blanchfield (Kilfane) defeated Colin McKenna (Kells); in U 13 B Singles Final Cathal Barry (Clogh) defeated Rory Lodge (Kells). Congratulations to all who participated and well done on reaching the finals.
Windgap held their annual One Wall Tournament on Sunday 16th September, 2012 and Dan Breen (Kells) defeated John Fitzgerald (Kells) in the Open Final. Brendan Hyland and Roy Cullen (Kells) participated in the Juvenile tournament.
In preparation for the World Handball Championship which is being held in Citywest in Dublin from 11th to 21st October, 2012, the County 40 x 20 league has commenced. Good luck to all the Kells participants.
A FUND-RAISING FUN WALK/RUN for Defibrilator Fund in Windgap and Tullahought is being organised by the Windgap I.C.A. It will take place on Sunday, October 14th, beginning at 2.30 p.m. at the I.C.A. Millenniun Hall in Windgap village. The Walk, which is approximately 5 km, will be around the Bearna Breac and back to Windgap. The Run, which is approximately 10 km, will be around the Bearna Breac, down around Cotterstown and back to the village. Refreshments will be provided upon completion. Donation 10 euro. All are welcome.
A PROGRAMME AIMED AT NEWLY RETIRED PEOPLE entitled Ageing with Confidence will be run for 10 Thursdays from 2.00 p.m. – 4.30 p.m. will begin on October 11th in the Droichead Family Resource Centre in Callan. This progamme is specifically designed to offer older people support in living life to the full in a positive way. The course is free of charge. CONGRATULATIONS to David Herity on winning another All-Ireland medal with Kilkenny and to Noel Hickey on winning his ninth All-Ireland. Also congratulations to William Phelan on his first win. All three are members of Dunamaggan Hurling Club.
