DUNAMAGGAN GYMKHANA from the proceeds of its raffle etc, even though the Gymkhana was cancelled for only its second time since it began, presented €2,000 to each of Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team and St. Joseph’s Support Home for the Elderly in Kilmoganny. Both organisations thanked the Gymkhana for their continued support.

THE KNIT AND STITCH SHOW will take place in the RDS, Dublin on Thursday 1st November. A bus is being organised to travel to the event and anyone interested in travelling is asked to contact 087 – 9518384.
THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS will hold their A.G.M. on Wednesday 17th October at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. New members are very welcome to attend.
JOHN POWER late of Glendine, Kilkenny and formally of Lacken, Dunamaggan was laid to rest in Kilmoganny Cemetery on last Thursday. John was a very active member of the farming community in Dunamaggan until his retirement over 20 years ago. He is survived in Ireland by his sister Mary and has brothers across the Atlantic. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends. Apart from his great interest in farming John had a great love of horse racing. His remains were received in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan by Rev. Nicholas Flavin, P.P. on Wednesday evening and he celebrated the mass of Christian burial on Thursday morning. Members of John’s family read the readings and prayers of the faithful. May he rest in peace.

KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: A presentation night for the Juvenile 60 x 30 County winners was held in O’Loughlin’s Handball Club on Friday 5th October, 2012. The Kells Handball Clubs members who were county winners were Girls U 16/17 Singles Sarah Molloy, Boys U 13 Doubles Conor Murphy and Conor Condon, Boys U 14 Doubles Jack Crehan and Roy Cullen, Boys U 17 Singles Brendan Hyland and Boys U 10 B Singles Joe Cowhig. Congratulations and well done to them and to all who participated in the juvenile county championships.
The World Handball Championships are being held in Citywest, Co. Dublin from 11th to 21st October, 2012. Kells Handball Club participants are Diarmuid Burke, Brendan Burke, Patrick Funchion, Peter Funchion, Pat Funchion, Paddy Fennelly, Ger McGrath, Anthony Martin, C.J. Delaney, Dan Breen, Eoin Brennan, Conor Murphy and Brendan Hyland. The very best of luck to all the lads and hope all have a memorable experience at this huge handball event.
