CD LAUNCH TO ASSIST BUIOLDING OF HOPE PROJECT. The Building of Hope charity was set up to build community facilities for some of the poorest areas in Africa and on the second project in 2012 the volunteers were invited to meet the beautiful children at the school for the blind. Hard men cried when they saw the conditions. Sleeping three to a bunk with no sheets, no running water for showers and no flush toilets, nothing to cook on but an open fire pit and classrooms where lumps of the ceiling regularly fell in. The volunteers decided there and then that they would return and build the children a new home. This became a reality in February 2012 when the home was officially opened.
Kate Carroll stated “I was a volunteer on this project and saw the sheer joy that the children displayed as they explored their new home. The charity is run completely on a voluntary basis - no one gets a wage. We need as many people as possible to support the sale of these CD's and would really appreciate your help in putting the word out there.”
Henry Shefflin along with Liam McCarthy extend an invitation to you to the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny on Thursday 22nd November at 8.00 p.m. for the launch of "The Spirit of Christmas" CD in association with the Building of Hope Project. The CD was recorded by the children who attend the Likoni School for the Blind in Mombasa, Kenya. 183 volunteers from all over Ireland travelled to Mombasa in January and February 2012 and built a home for these blind children. Outside of Co. Clare, the largest number of volunteers came from the Kilkenny-Carlow area.
The CD comprises of 8 Christmas Carols. The children put a great effort into the recording of the CD as they had to learn the words through braille and in English. The CD will be on sale on the night for €10 each and all proceeds will be used by the charity for the children's medical, social and educational needs. Come along and meet Henry and Liam and support a very worthy cause.

DUNAMAGGAN U 21 HURLERS QUALIFY FOR SOUTHERN FINAL. The U 21 Hurlers progressed to the southern final of their championship by beating Tullogher-Rosbercon in Kilmacow on Saturday last in a closely fought game. Dunnamaggin led at half time by the minimum 1 - 7 to 1 - 6 with Peter Kenneally scoring the goal after a fine solo from halfway. The game continued to be a tight affair and seemed to be going Tullogher’s way in the closing stages as they led by two points. However, Eoghan Kearney found the back of the net in the dying minutes to put Dunnamaggin 1 point ahead. Peter Kenneally won the resulting puck out and put it straight over the bar to leave Dunnamaggin winners by two points. There were many great performances from the Dunnamaggin players with Peter Kenneally having a great game in midfield while marking senior inter-county player Walter Walsh. The Defence was very strong being led by William Phelan. The work rate of the forwards was very evident throughout. They now face Kilmacow in the Southern Final. Team:- Adam Kenneally, Conor Long, Anthony Kearney, William Moylan, Peter Kirwan, Willie Phelan, Aaron Doherty, Andrew Fitzpatrick, Peter Kenneally, Michael Costello, Kieran Bergin, Paddy Power, Eoghan Kearney, Paddy Delaney, Andrew Dwyer. Sub used:- John Fitzpatrick for Paddy Power.
The U 12 team continued their very good progress in the Carrigeen Tournament and have qualified for the final next week-end where their opponents will be Abbeyside of Waterford.
