KELLS SCOUTS NEWS: Beavers
from the 6th Kilkenny Kells Scouts Group had a visit from the
Mountain Rescue Team in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan as their recent weekly
meeting. Two members from the South Eastern Mountain Rescue attended and gave a
very informative presentation to all present. The Beavers were engrossed not
only in the fun and information giving but also by the opportunity to view
close up the mountain rescue jeep and to try out some of the equipment. The
Kells Scouts wish to express their thanks not only to the Mountain Rescue team
for attending but also to Dunamaggan Parish for facilitating the event in St.
Leonard’s Hall.

DUNAMAGGAN U 21 HURLERS QUALIFY FOR SOUTHERN FINAL. The Dunnamaggin U21’s were defeated in a well contested Southern
Final in a Damp Piltown on last Saturday afternoon. William Phelan opened the
scoring with a well taken point on the 5th minute but Kilmacow
responded with two of their own shortly afterwards. This followed a period of
dominance from Dunnamaggin but it only yielded one point from Kieran Bergin.
Kilmacow then pointed only for Kieran Bergin to Level again. Great fielding
from Kieran Bergin and Peter Kenneally together with great work from William
Phelan at Centre Back kept the pressure on Kilmacow but only yield one further
point from Kieran Bergin as the wide tally mounted. Kilmacow converted another
free and the sides went in level 0 – 4 at Half Time.

It was Kilmacow who started the second half better and forced and
excellent save from the very solid Adam Kenneally in goal. Conor Coffey now on
for Michael Costello was causing the Kilmacow defence headaches and initiated a
good move which nearly resulted in a goal for Dunnamaggin. However it was
Kilmacow who were converting their chances with four points to Dunnamaggin’s
one (Bergin). The Dunnamaggin Defence was becoming under increasing pressure
but Anthony Kearney at full back and William Moylan in the corner stopped any
goal treat and were exceptional throughout. Dunnamaggin with John Fitzpatrick
on for Paddy Power then took the initiative and through points from Paddy
Delany and Willie Phelan kept them in the game but Kilmacow pointed immediately
and then dealt the crucial blow when they hit the back of the net capitalising
on a mix-up in the Dunnamaggin defence. William Phelan Converted another long
range free but it was Kilmacow who added further points to run out winners on a
score line of Dunnamaggin 0 – 8 to Kilmacow 1 – 11. Panel:- Adam Kenneally,
