A COMMUNITY ALERT MEETING was held in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan on Monday 4th February. The meeting like the one of the previous week was very well attended.  It was decided at the meeting to have a Community Text Alert Service to assist in protection on the area. If you wish to be included in the text alert please TEXT your name and contact details to: Philip Brennan 086 – 8161212 or John Holden 086 – 8203461. Over 100 households are already included in the text alert at present. Residents of Kilmoganny, Dunamaggan and Kells are invited to participate in the service.


If you see a suspicious vehicle, please get the full registration number, make, model and colour of the vehicle and ring Thomastown Gardaí 056 – 7754150. If the Gardaí tell you it is suspicious then ring Philip Brennan or John Holden so text alerts are activated. Since the text alert service was introduced two alerts have been circulated about vehicles which had false number plated.

THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS will stage Hugh Leonard’s Da in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny from Tuesday February 19th to Friday February 22nd. Tickets are available from Kilmoganny P.O., Pete Moran’s and Dunphy’s in Kilmoganny. Early booking is advisable as the Shrughawadda Players usually attract full houses each night. Tickets are €10 with concessions at €7 on Tuesday night only.


 


AWARDS EVENTS: Dunnamaggin Hurling Club & Kilmoganny Football club will host a Juvenile Awards evening at 5.00 p.m. followed by an Adult Awards night & Cabaret at 9.00 p.m.  in The Priory Bar, Kells on this Saturday 16th February 2013. Your support would be very welcome.


THE KILMOGANNY SENIOR FOOTBALL TEAM CONTINUED THEIR SUCCESFUL LEAGUE CAMPAIGN in Mullinavat on Saturday afternoon last in the second round of the league. Kilmoganny started the game much better than the home team with Kieran Bergin getting a point from play and two frees in the opening minutes. Kilmoganny continued to dominate possession with Mullinavat finding it hard to get out of their own half. Paddy Delaney and Kieran Bergin pointed again to give Kilmoganny a five point lead. Kilmoganny continued to dominate and were awarded a penalty which Kieran Bergin converted. Mullinavat responded well, broke forward and drilled the ball to the bottom left corner of the net giving keeper Jim Fallon no chance. Kilmoganny responded before half time with points from Darren Fitzpatrick and Kieran Bergin to leave it 1 - 7 to 1 - 0 at half time.


Kilmoganny introduced Peter Kenneally for Paul Kirwan at half time and William Hughes for Andrew Fitzpatrick shortly after. Mullinavat brought on five subs simultaneously shortly after the resumption in play. Kiernan Bergin resumed his scoring spree with a point and a second excellently taken penalty. This sparked a Mullinavat revival and they scored a goal and a point in very quick succession. The Kilmoganny defence was under pressure at this stage but the full back line of Tommy O’Brien, Canice Hickey and Mark Dowling continued to hold strong. Kilmoganny continued to be patient and worked the ball well with short hand passing and it eventually brought about Kilmoganny’s third goal when Kenny Moore made no mistake and pounced on a loose ball and buried it into the Mullinavat net. Mullinavat however broke forward again and scored their third goal before Colin Herity finished Kilmoganny’s scoring with a well taken point to leave it 3 - 9 to 3 - 1 full time.

Kilmoganny now top their group with 4 points from two games and face Dicksboro in the final group game. A win would ensure that they top the group.
