KILMOGANNY FOOTBALL TEAM QUALIFY FOR THE COUNTY LEAGUE FINAL by defeating Clara on a score-line of 1 – 13 to 0 – 5 in Thomastown last Saturday. Clara playing with the wind in a blustery and damp Thomastown started the better. They failed, however to capitalize on their fine play shooting numerous wides, with one even hitting of the top of the post. It was the tenth minute before Anthony Kearney got the game’s first score for Kilmoganny. Clara responded immediately with one of their own. Then followed a period of dominance by Kilmoganny. Points from Peter Kenneally, Canice Hickey, Darren Fitzpatrick, Colin Herity and Kenny Moore pushed Kilmoganny into a good lead. Kilmoganny were playing some very good football at this stage with great support running by all. Clara responded before half time putting over two fine points but it was Peter Kenneally again who finished the scoring for the half with two points, one from a very acute angle. The half time score was Kilmoganny 0 - 8 to Clara 0 - 3. JJ Dunphy made his return after a long layoff to injury at half time for Antony Kearney who suffered a hand injury. Clara again started very brightly in the second half and opened the scoring with a fine point but Colin Herity and Darren Fitzpatrick responded immediately with fine points. Clara pointed again but this was to be their last score of the game. Further points from Colin Herity and Peter Kenneally extended Kilmoganny’s Lead. With Seaghan O’Neill now on for Peter Kenneally and Richie O’Shea now on for Andrew Fitzpatrick Kilmoganny continued to play well and maintain pressure on the Clara defense. The Clara defense was eventually broken by a great goal from J.J. Dunphy. Clara never gave up and pilled all their players into the Kilmoganny half towards the end and forced an excellent save from Goalkeeper Aaron Doherty. Colin Herity finished off the scoring with a point. Kilmoganny will now play Muckalee in the final on next Saturday. Panel:- Aaron Doherty, Mark Dowling, Aidan Donovan, Tommy O’Brien, Andrew Fitzpatrick, Noel Hickey, Andrew Hickey, Canice Hickey, Sean Connery, Colin Herity, Kenny Moore, Darren Fitzpatrick, Paddy Delaney, Anthony Kearney, Peter Kenneally, Richard O’Shea, J.J.  THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS, Kilmoganny staged Hugh Leonard’s “Da” to full houses in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny last week. The production was once again excellently directed by Michael Dowling. The production which was a very different drama from previous productions demonstrated the versatility not only of director Michael Dowling but of the Shrughawadda Players. Like previous productions “Da” was an opportunity for a new face to grace the stage. This time the debutant was Mick Keegan as Mr Drumm who showed that you are never too old to make a stage debut. Mick grew into the role as the production proceeded. Martin O’Shea had the role of Da and he once again demonstrated the versatility of his talents. Marie Kelly as the Mother was superb in the role. Peter Dunne as Charlie, and reminiscing about the past after his father’s funeral, again showed his competence and versatility in a difficult role. Mark Dunphy played the young Charlie and Roseanne Connelly as Mary Tate played a very different role from her previous stage performance with aplomb. Caroline Doran as Mrs Prynne was excellent in the role and Eamonn Murphy as Oliver completed the cast. Again for Eamonn this character was different from sole of his previous roles but his performance was once again of the highest standard.

The set design by Sheila Woods was excellent and it was competently put in place by Willie Kearney. As Usual Ciaran Moore was superb as the lighting maestro. Back Stage was Suzie Hickey and Biddy Hawe. Front of House were Jackie Kenneally and Willie Kearney with Alycia Kearney as Stage Manager. John and Mags Kelly did Trojan work in ensuring that everything in the Centre was in order for the production. Another excellent production by Shrughawadda Players and we await with anticipation the next production.
