Offaly in the Boys U 14 Singles Conor Murphy (Kells) came up against the World U 13 Singles Champion Colin Ryan (Tipperary). In the Ladies Junior Doubles 40 x 20 All Ireland final held in Cappagh, Co. Limerick were Marie Walshe (Kells) with her partner Rachel Hogan (Kilfane). They came up against strong opposition in Sinead Ni hAnili and Roisin Ni Chonghaile (Galway). The Galway girls got off to a great start leading in the 1st game 7-0, but when the Kilkenny girls settled themselves, with Marie’s powerful left hand and missing nothing and Rachel’s kill shot accuracy they were soon clocking up the aces and won out the first game 21-9. The determined Galway girls came out in the 2nd game fighting and got a good lead on Marie and Rachel and were winning 9-2. Then Marie and Rachel got into their stride. Marie’s serve proving too difficult to return, the Galway girls had no answer and with Rachel’s accurate right hand finishing off the rallies the Kilkenny girls closed out the 2nd game winning it 21-15 to bring home their hard earned Gold medals. Congratulations and very well done to Conor, Marie and Rachel on reaching their All Ireland Finals.

IN THE SENIOR FOOTBALL SEMI-FINAL Kilmoganny senior footballers were defeated by James Stephens in a very very windy Thomastown on last Sunday 14th April 2013. It was great to see all the co. hurling stars from both sides in action despite the National Hurling league semi-final being on next weekend. Kilmoganny playing against the wind, which was blowing straight down the field into the Kilmoganny goal, opened the scoring through Paddy Delaney. Paddy came on as a substitute nearly immediately from the start after a leg injury to JJ Dunphy. James Stephens were quick to respond and take full advantage of the wind with four points. Peter Kenneally kept Kilmoganny in contention with a fine point. The wind was so severe that the ball could be blown in any direction from either a hand pass, kick and even blew off the kicking tee on numerous occasions. James Stephens added three additional points before half time, to send the teams in Kilmoganny 0 – 2 James Stephens 0 – 7 at half time. Kilmoganny started the second half well with good points from Darren Fitzpatrick and Davy Herity but James Stephens added two of their own. Donal O’Shea came on for Colin Herity midway through the second half. Kilmoganny continued to exert pressure on the James Stephens goal but the scores just would not come. Kieran Bergin finished the scoring for the match with a good point but James Stephens ran out 0 - 9 to 0 - 5 winners. Panel:- Jim Fallon, Andrew Fitzpatrick, Noel Hickey, Mark Dowling, William Hughes, William Phelan, Andrew Hickey, Sean Connery, JJ Dunphy, Kenny Moore, Colin Herity, Darren Fitzpatrick, Peter Kenneally, Kieran Bergin, David Herity, Paddy Delaney, Donal O’Shea, Tommy O’Brien, Conor Long, James Kehoe, John Fitzpatrick, Aaron Doherty, Seaghan O’Neill, Jason Doherty.
