The Dunnamaggin Intermediate Hurlers secured their first win in the Intermediate grade against Mooncoin in Piltown on last Friday evening. Mooncoin were very quick out of the traps and racked up 5 points to Dunnamaggin’s one from Darren Fitzpatrick in the first five minutes. Kenny Moore slotted Dunnamaggin’s second before Mooncoin put another two between the uprights. Seaghan O’Neill and Canice Hickey replied with a point each but Mooncoin also slotted two more over the bar. A positional switch from the Dunnamaggin Selectors (Niall McCormack, Jim Hickey and Tom McCormack) switching William Phelan and Canice Hickey was the turning point of the first half, with Dunnamaggin scoring 7 points without reply from Kenny Moore (3),Kieran Bergin (2), Seaghan O’Neill and Willie Phelan (1 each). Mooncoin responded with a point before Darren Fitzpatrick replied with a point but it was Mooncoin who had the last say of the half pointing two frees to send the teams in level at half time 12 points each.

Mooncoin Started the second half well scoring two quick points before Willie Phelan brought the minimum between the teams again. Colin Herity replaced Paddy Delaney in the tenth minutes of the second half and this sparked another scoring spree from Dunnamaggin with points from Anthony Kearney (2), Canice Hickey (1) and Kiernan Bergin (1) before Mooncoin replied with a point of their own. Anthony Kearney was creating panic in front of the Mooncoin Goal any time the ball came his way while at the other end Davy Herity was seeing more ball than he ever did as Mooncoin kept landing balls into him with no forward present. With ten minutes remaining only 2 point separated the teams but it was Dunnamaggin who took the initiative with points from Seaghan O’Neill, Kenny Moore and Kieran Bergin before Andrew Fitzpatrick found the back of the net with a well taken goal. Mooncoin responded with a point immediately but it was the very accurate Canice Hickey who had the last say pointing a free. Full time Dunnamaggin 1 - 21 to Mooncoin 0 - 16

The U14 footballers contested the Roinn B championship final on Wednesday evening last against Mooncoin in Mooncoin. Kilmoganny took the game to Mooncoin and scored the opening two points through Eddie Dunne and Conor Lawlor before Mooncoin responded with a point. Darragh O’Keeffe responded with a well taken point half way through the first half. Then followed a period of sustained pressure from Mooncoin which saw them hit the crossbar and force an excellent penalty save from Cathal Ryan. The pressure on the Kilmoganny goal was relentless and Mooncoin yielded 2 goals and 8 points despite the best efforts of the Kilmoganny defence. Kilmoganny rallied again and broke forward just before the half time whistle and an excellent ball from Robbie McCauley set up Jamie McLoughlin to rattle the Mooncoin net. This score was followed up with an excellent free from Darragh O’Keeffe. Mooncoin however had the last say of the half when they found the net again. Half time Kilmoganny 1 - 4 Mooncoin 3 - 8. Mooncoin started the second half with two goals but Kilmoganny responded well with a goal of their own from Robbie McCauley. Mooncoin rallied yet again with two goals and a point. Kilmoganny introduced some substitutes and it sparked a mini revival with Conor Lawlor and Eddie Dunne finding the back of the net for Kilmoganny. Luke Fitzpatrick scored a good point and Nicky O’Shea found the back of the net just before the finish but Mooncoin had not finished their scoring either and they eventually ran out winners on a score line of Kilmoganny 5 - 5 to Mooncoin 9 -10.Panel:- Cathal Ryan, Conor Hoban, Killian Lafford, Alex Moore, Adam Fitzpatrick, Luke Fitzpatrick, Dylan Crehan, Ian Walsh, Darragh O’Keeffe, Robbie McCauley, Eddie Dunne,  Rory Lodge, Conor Brett, Conor Lawlor, Jamie McLoughlin, Andy Hickey, Nicky O’Shea, Ger Coffey, Sean Carroll, Eoin O’Driscoll, Dylan Wall.
