In their second match of the week the Dunnamaggin U14 hurling team took on St Fiacre’s (Black and Whites) in a cold Skeoghvosteen on last Thursday evening. This was definitely a game of two half’s. The game was sparked into life after 3 minutes with a swift goal from St Fiacre’s. They followed this up immediately with a point. This made Dunnamaggin pick up and take note. Darragh O Keeffe started the scoring for Dunnamaggin in the seventh minute. However, St Fiacre’s continued their attack and scored another 3 points by the 21st minute. St Fiacre’s continued to heap pressure on Dunnamaggin for the remainder of the second half. Dunnamaggin got 2 more points from Darragh O Keeffe and Nick O Shea but another goal was also conceded.  Luke Fitzpatrick received a heavy blow just before half time which required a few minutes treatment. In the last few seconds of the half, the 3rd goal went in. The half time score in favour of St. Fiacre’s was 3 - 6 to 0 - 4.

The second half was to be Dunnamaggin's. Eddie Dunne started the Dunnamaggin reply with a point and the fight back started from there. They had battled a strong bitter wind in the first half combined with a hill and they were going to use this to their advantage in the second half. Jamie McLoughlin having taken a heavy blow fought for every ball. The half back’s started to clear more and more ball with Dylan Crehan and Co. working extremely hard. The scores started to come for the mighty Maggans with points from Rory Lodge and Luke Fitzpatrick setting the path for Dunnamaggin's first goal from Luke Fitzpatrick bringing the score to 3-6 to 1-6. The fight back was seriously on.

Dunnamaggin continued to show their skill with a point from Conor Lawlor and a great goal from Darragh O Keeffe. St Fiacre’s came back with a point of their own but it was to be their last score.

Then it came, the decisive period for Dunnamaggin- Another goal from Luke Fitzpatrick followed by one from Conor Lawlor and the security they needed in the last few minutes, a point from Conor Lawlor. Final score St Fiacre’s 3 - 7 Dunnamaggin 4 - 8. A heroic comeback from a great panel of players, 11points down at half time. Well done lads!!!
