VARIETY CONCERT: A very successful and well supported Variety Concert took place in Dunphy’s Lounge, Kilmoganny on last Saturday night. As usual there was tremendous variety including sketches, music, dance, etc. The variety ranged from Classical to farce. Congratulations to Alycia Kearney for once again producing a top class show on the night. The proceeds of the concert are in aid of St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny.

ST. LEONARD’S SCHOOL FAMILY DAY; Sunday last 16th June saw the parents of St Leonard's N.S. heading for the school pitch to watch the league finals being played in wet and blustery conditions. Despite the weather, two wonderful matches were played in front of a large crowd. First the junior league final was played between Emma Dunne’s team in Kilkenny colours and Jamie Cashin’s in Dunnamaggin jerseys. Both teams played very well with little to separate them but eventually the" Dunnamaggin" team got on top and won on a scoreline of 3 – 0 to 1 – 0.
Teams Dunnamaggin: Jamie Cashin (capt), Aidan O'Neill, Tom Kinsella, Noelle O’Dwyer, Ava Sheridan, Mark McEneaney, Noah Gilmore. Kilkenny: Emma Dunne (capt), Joe Fitzpatrick, Aidan Ryan, Ellie Kinsella, Sean Lawton, Hannah Persse, Sam O'Driscoll.
The senior teams were also in Dunnamaggin and Kilkenny colours (Darragh O'Keeffe V Adam Fitzpatrick) Eddie Dunne captained Adam's team as Adam was at an athletics event. Both teams were evenly matched with Darragh and Eddie clashing the ash ferociously. At half-time the score was 1 – 1 to 1 – 0 in favour of Darragh’s team. The result was in doubt up to the final minute when Darragh’s team got a second goal to win by 2 – 1 to 1 – 0. Teams: Dunnamaggin: Darragh O'Keeffe, Jamie O’Keeffe, Sarah Davis, Gillian Costello, Dylan O’Carroll, Ciara Mulhall and Keelagh Sheridan. Kilkenny: Eddie Dunne, Aoife Mulhall, Shawn O'Keeffe, Niamh Walsh, Leo Capasso, Cathal Persse, Emma Brennan,
Players and parents retired quickly to the hall for presentation of medals. There was also a presentation of medals for the soccer team who won the Mid-Leinster final of the FAI 5aside competition this year. Ms Delahunty thanked all for coming, the teachers for mentoring the children, Pascal Connolly for acting as referee for all league matches and the Parents association who worked so hard organising teas, coffees, the balloon race and other novelty stalls which added greatly to the enjoyment of the day.
CEMETARY MASSES will be celebrated in Dunamaggan Parish as follows this year: Kilmoganny Cemetery on Friday 12th July; Kilree Cemetery on Wednesday 17th July and in Dunamaggan Cemetery on Friday 19th July. All masses will be celebrated at 8.00 p.m.
DUNAMAGGAN U 8 HURLERS took part in the Dicksboro blitz on Saturday last 15th June. All the teams played four games of 10 min a side with the first half ground hurling and the second half lifting and striking. Those who played on the day were Cathal Buckley, Sean Rossiter, Mark MacEneaney, William Browne, Paddy Cody, Sean Lawton, Ross O'Neill, Louisa Gilmore, Noah Gilmore, Cathal Walsh, John Hayes, Aidan Ryan, Killian Tallon, Tom Kinsella and Eoin Shiel. FINANCE COMMITTEE: The Dunamaggan Parish Finance Committee will hold its next meeting on this Thursday 20th June in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.30 p.m.
PASTORAL COUNCIL: Dunamaggan Pastoral Council will be represented on the Ossory Southern Deanery Pastoral Council by its secretary, Pascal Grace. The Deanery Pastoral Council begins a new four term with its first meeting on next Monday 24th June in Mullinavat at 8.00 p.m.. Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. Dunamaggan is one of the three elected priests from the Southern Deanery to its Pastoral Council.
SCHOOL MASSES: Masses to celebrate the end of the School Year will be celebrated in St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny on Tuesday next 25th June at about 11.00 a.m. and in St. Leonard’s School Dunamaggan on Wednesday 26th June at 1.30 p.m. Parents are invited to attend the celebrations.
KELLS HANDBALL: Kells Leinster Junior B Interclub team of Brendan Burke, Diarmuid Burke, Anthony Martin, Dan Breen and Brendan Hyland defeated Monavea (Laois) in the Leinster final. Brendan Burke played Michael Donovan with a score line of 21 - 15, 13 - 21, Anthony Martin and Dan Breen played Andrew Dowling and Peter Whelan and won 21 - 14, 21 - 18 and Diarmuid Burke played Tomas Lennon with a score of 19 - 21, 21 - 14, Kells came out on top with 10 aces. Congratulations and well done to all the lads. The Leinster 60 x 30 championship has commenced and in Junior Singles Ger McGrath (Kells) received a walkover from Peter McGrath (Wexford), in the Junior B Singles Dan Breen (Kells) defeated Stephen Doyle (Carlow) and Anthony Martin (Kells) defeated Martin Doyle (Carlow). The County 60 x 30 championships have also commenced. In the Senior Singles Ger McGrath (Kells) defeated Eoghan Hennessy (Clogh).
