The Shrughawadda Players will stage the comedy Move Over Mrs. Markham in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny from Tuesday 18th January – Friday 21st January 2011. Tickets are available from Kilmoganny Post Office 051- 648001; Peter Moran’s 051 – 648283 and Dunphy’s Pub 051 – 648252. Tickets cost €10. The concession night for O.A.P.’s is Tuesday only and concession tickets ate €7. All the proceeds of Wednesday night will be donated to Dunamaggan Field Development.
The A.G.M.’s of Kilmoganny Football Club and Dunamaggan Hurling Club will be held on Friday 7th January. The first A.G.M. will be at 7.30 p.m. and it will be followed by the second A.G.M. All members of the clubs are invited to attend.
The Christmas Celebrations in St. Leonard’s Church Dunamaggan and in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny were very well attended with many parishioners returning home to celebrate Christmas with their families. The parish avoided the worst of the severe weather. Even so many found water pipes frozen and this resulted in major additional worn particularly for farmers. All woke up to the thaw on Sunday morning with temperatures positive and the fields no longer white but green.
The Dunamaggan Parish Pastoral Council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday 4th January 2011. This meeting was postponed from December due to the inclement weather. Planning for the forthcoming Parish Mission at the end of February – beginning of March will be the main item on its agenda.
Mrs. Mary Moore, Dunamaggan died un-expectantly at her residence last Tuesday 21st December. Her remains reposed at her home before being removed to St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Wednesday evening. They were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin, P.P. who celebrated the mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning before internment in Kilmoganny Cemetery. During the mass members of the family read the readings and bidding prayers. Symbols of her life including flowers, reflecting her great love of gardening, a book, reflecting her devotion to reading and the bread and wing were presented by family members. Mary was in her 94th year and lived her entire life in Dunamaggan. She is survived by her only daughter, Imelda, many relatives and friends. She had a life long interest in her community and displayed a great interest in the wellbeing of all. May she rest in peace.
Kilmoganny Bridge Club is closed for the Christmas period and activities will resume on Wednesday 5th January at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Bridge classes for beginners will commence on Wednesday 26th January and will continue for 10 successive Wednesdays in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. each evening.
