CELEBRATION AT ANCIENT MASS BUSH:  The annual celebration of Family and Welcome will take place on this Thursday 25th July at 7.30 p.m. This year’s celebration will begin with mass at the site of the ancient Mass Bush on the land of Tom Phelan, Dunamaggan. This site is located in the townland of Lacken Draygawn. Mass was celebrated at this site during the Penal Times. Entry to the location is through the farmyard of Tom Phelan. This is one of the many historic sites in the Parish of Dunamaggan. Following the celebration of mass there will be the usual picnic, chat, music and get-together around the camp fire in the grounds of St. Leonard’s Church. Children are especially welcome to the celebration as are all parish members especially those who are new to the parish.

WINNERS IN G.A.A. DRAW: Congratulations to Tom Hughes, Danganmore on winning 4th prize (€600) and Liam Heffernan on winning (€100) in the 3rd Piltown Ticket draw held on Monday 15th.


 



THANKS from Noel Lahart to all who sponsored him for the Temple Street Children’s Hospital Cycle4Life Cycle in Dunboyne, Co. Meath. The 147 Km cycle was completed on May 4th. He collected a total of €1,500. The total collected was almost €200,000. The money will go towards the provision of an isolation room in the intensive care unit. Temple St. Hospital wishes to thank all who contributed.


 


 



 



SELF DEFENCE COURSE: A one-day Self-defence/Karate Course for Kids will take place in St. Eoghan's Centre, Kilmoganny, on Tuesday 6th August 2013 from11.00a.m. – 2.30p.m. The Cost is €30 per student.  The closing date for booking is Saturday 3rd August. Spaces may be limited so early booking is advisable.  To book your place call 086 3668669 No experience necessary. Open to boys and girls aged between 5 years and 12 years old. Please bring loose clothing such as a tracksuit, a towel and water. A light snack will be provided. Certificates will be offered to all students on completion of the course.


 


HURLERS VICTORIOUS: The Dunamaggan u13 7-aside hurling team who competed in the Lisdowney mini sevens on Saturday last were victorious in their two games. They played Dicksboro in their first game and won by a point and in the second game beat Conahy by three points. They have now qualified for the quarter final of tournament in two weeks time. The panel of players was: Eddie Dunne, Conor Brett, Jamie O’Keeffe, Daniel O’Neill, Darragh O’Keeffe, Alex Moore, Conor Hoban, Harry Walsh, Ian Walsh and Adam Fitzpatrick 



KILMOGANNY GATHERING: The full programme of events for the Dunamaggan Parish Gathering will open on Friday 2nd August in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. The opening will be performed by Managing Director Designate of Glanbia, Siobhán Talbot and Nine times All Ireland Winner, Noel Hickey. It will be followed by a talk on The Art of John Lavery who resided in Rossenarra House on his visits to the area and painted his final painting in the parish.


On the Saturday there is an U 10 hurling blitz in Dunamaggan G.A.A. pitch with a Fathers v’s Daughters match at 5.15 p.m. The 7.00 p.m. mass in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny will have an Emigrant Theme with traditional music and readings. It will be followed by the unveiling of a plaque to the late Moire Moore who contributed significantly to the area. Then there is a historic walk through Kilmoganny village and a visit to L’Arche gardens.


A highlight of the Sunday day will be the Poc Fáda cross country competition from Dunamaggan to Kilmoganny. Fancy dress, BBQ and a variety of entertainment will follow with a variety of musical entertainment to conclude the proceedings.
