CELEBRATION AT ANCIENT MASS BUSH:  The annual celebration of Family and Welcome in Dunamaggan took place last Thursday 25th July. The weather was very suitable for the outdoor celebrations. The celebrations began with mass being celebrated for the first time in centuries at the ancient mass bush site on the land of Tom Phelan, Dunamaggan located in the townland of Lacken Draygawn. From the site there is a tremendous view of the surrounding countryside. Thus it is easy to understand why such a site was chosen in Penal Times. Following the celebration of mass there was the usual picnic, chat, music and get-together around the camp fire in the grounds of St. Leonard’s Church.
