BRIDGE CLASSES for beginners commenced on Wednesday last 2nd October at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. If anyone else would like to join the classes they are welcome to come on this Wednesday. The lessons will run for 10 consecutive weeks and the total cost of all the lessons is €20. The lessons usually run from 8.00 p.m. – 10.30 p.m. with a break for tea/coffee/. No previous card playing knowledge is required. For further details contact 087 – 2257498.

HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN: The next meeting will take place on Thursday 17th October at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. All are welcome. The group would welcome information re the ancient names of fields in the parish.
ENROLMENT SUNDAY: Last Sunday was Enrolment Sunday for twenty two children from the parish of Dunamaggan who will receive their first Holy Communion next May. The ceremony took place as part of the Sunday 11.00 a.m. mass in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan. Parish Priest Rev. Nicholas Flavin welcomed the children and their parents to the mass. Those enrolled were: Cody, Paddy; Gilmore, Noah; Foxe, Clara Whelan; Hayes, John; Holden, Blaithin; Kinsella, Ellie; Kinsella, Tom; Lawton, Sean; McMahon, Gavin; O’Neill, Ross; O’Shea, Sam; O’Sullivan, Grace; Ryan, Aidan; Sheridan, Ava; Tallon, Killian; Fitzpatrick, Ria; Kenneally, Megan; Hartnett, Anne; Buckley, Cathal; Cullen, Louie; Murphy, Grace; O’Sullivan, Adam.
CONFIRMATION: The sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in Dunamaggan Parish, on 13th April next, Palm Sunday.
CROKE PARK PLAYER: Congratulations to Conor Hoban of Kells who represented Dunnamaggin in the U13s “Respect Games” played at half time in the replayed All Ireland Final last Saturday week. Playing on the “Clare” team, Conor’s 1 - 1 from play help his side to victory over Cork on the day.
IVERK SHOW SUCCESS: St. Eoghan’s N.S., Kilmoganny had great success once more at this year’s Piltown Show. A total of 14 prizes were won. There were four first prizes, six second prizes and four third prizes. These included samples of knitting, sewing, construction and crochet. The children who entered this year’s competitions were Alice Monahan, Colin Fitzpatrick, Ella Dunne, Gavin Cleere, Leona Drennan, Nathan Drennan, Tara Drennan, Amy Monahan, Caleb O’Shea, Daisy Barry and Anna Hartnett. Well done to everyone.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The Kilkenny U14/15 60 x 30 team 6 of Conor Condon (Kells), Cillian Lafford (Kells), Jack Crehan (Kells), Rory Lodge (Kells), Eoin Regan (Clogh), Cathal Barry (Clogh), Aidan Barry (Clogh) and James Culleton (Windgap) went down in their Leinster semi-final against Kildare which was held in Ballymore Eustace and narrowly lost out by one ace on a score of 76-75. The Kilkenny U12/13 60 x 30 team 6 of Eoin Brennan (Kells), Colin McKenna (Kells), Dylan Crehan (Kells), Jack Buggy (Clogh), Billy O’Neill (Clogh), Thomas Brennan (Clogh), Jack Holden (Kilfane) and Robert Dowling (Mothel) lost out to Wexford in the Leinster final by three aces on a score of 73-70.
In the Annual 60 x 30 Hal Clark Tournament held in Kilfane Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Noel Holden in the final. Other Kells Handball Club participants were Dan Breen, Brendan Hyland, Diarmuid Burke, Ger McGrath and Anthony Martin who was beaten in the semi final by Brendan Burke. Thanks to the Kilfane Handball Club for the invitations to participate in the tournament and for all the hospitality at the Final.
