CLOTHING COLLECTION: Dochas Nasamu Orphanage - in Nairobi, Kenya, which is an Irish run and Irish built Aids orphanage, are holding a used clothing appeal of ladies’, gents’ and children’s clothes, shoes, household linens i.e. towels, sheets, blankets, soft toys, handbags etc. (whatever condition - even in need of - recycling - so long as the items are clean). This Collection will take place on Thursday 31st October, from 9.00 a.m. to 10.15a.m. at The Parochial House Garage in Windgap, and also at Tullahaught Church Grounds: from 10.15a.m. to 11.00a.m. at Dunamaggan and at Kilmoganny Church Grounds. DUNAMAGGAN PARISH DINNER DANCE tickets are available form Tom Hickey, Rachel O’Connor, James Rossiter, Andrew O’Neill, Tonnie Moore, Catherine Tallon and Colette Fitzpatrick. The dinner dance will be held on Saturday 30th November at 8.00 p.m. sharp in the Skyline Suit, Hotel Kilkenny with music by “The Works” and also a D.J. Patrons are asked to purchase tickets as soon as possible so as to assist the organisers.
EIRGRID PYLON PUBLIC MEETING: Eirgrid are proposing to erect 400KV Extra High Voltage Power lines on Overhead Pylons throughout Co Kilkenny and one of the proposed routes is through Areas of Kells, Ennisnag, Stoneyford, Danesfort & Knocktopher. The Kells, Ennisnag, Stoneyford and Knocktopher says NO to Eirgrid Pylons group are holding a Public Awareness & Action Meeting in The Stoneyford Community Centre on Monday 4th of November at 8.30pm, all welcome. The group want to create as much awareness as possible to all affected on the proposed route and build a case for submission to Eirgid by 26th November. A big turnout from households and landowners in all the connected areas and parishes would be fantastic and will show great strength and unity in numbers. TEXT ALERT in Dunamaggan wish to remind members that it is very important to remain vigilant at all times. It wishes to state that a child’s go-cart was taken for the yard of a residence in the Dunamaggan area very recently.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the County 60 x 30 Intermediate Doubles Final Brendan Burke/Diarmuid Burke (Kells) defeated C.J. Delaney/Anthony Martin (Kells).
Waterford Institute of Technology (W.I.T.) won out in the All-Ireland Final of the 3rd level 60 x 30 Colleges Open Team event for the sixth year in a row. The WIT Team of Patrick Funchion, Ger McGrath, Dan Breen (all Kells, Kilkenny), Jason Cahill (Tipperary) and Noel Holohan (Wexford) defeated UCD in the semi-final and UL Team of Paudi Quish, Shane Walsh (Windgap), Danny Riordan and John Fitzgerald (Kells) in the final. Well done to all the lads.
Participating in the Winter Wexford 40 x 20 League from Kells Handball Club are Diarmuid Burke, Peter Funchion and Patrick Funchion. Good luck to them all.
Kells Handball Club Juvenile training will re-commence beginning Monday 4th November, 2013. Parents will be notified by text of the date and time of your child’s training session.
NOVEMBER MASSES: The month of November begins with the Feast of All Souls on November 1st and mass will be celebrated at the usual week-end times in all churches. On Saturday November 2nd masses will be celebrated in Dunamaggan at 9.30 a.m., Tullahought at 11.00 a.m. and in St. Joseph’s Home, Kilmoganny at 12.10 p.m.. Also during the month of November a novena (nine) masses will be offered for all those whose names are written on the list of the dead and returned to the churches.
WINDGAP SUPER SATURDAY 9th NOVEMBER (in aid of Windgap School Building Fund). It will consist of (1) A Tractor Run at 12.00 noon, with the assemble at the Lake Car Park, Windgap. The entry is €25 per tractor. For registration please contact Michael 087 – 6412653; (2) A Bring and Buy Sale from 12.00 noon – 4.00 p.m. in the Community Centre, Windgap, and Refreshments will be served all day. All are welcome; and (3) Raffle.
DUNAMAGGAN PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL will meet on this Thursday 31st October in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. A report will be given from the recent Southern Deanery Pastoral Council meeting and plans will be decided upon for the Christmas period.
WEDDING CELEBRATION: The marriage of Siobhán O’Donovan, Currahill, Kilmoganny and John Power, Owning Hill, was solemnized in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on Friday last October 25th. The bridesmaids were Anne-Marie Quigley and Bridget Aylward. The best man was Eoin O’Donnell and Aidan O’Donovan was groomsman. Niamh Quigley was the flower-girl and William Walsh was the pageboy. The bride was given away by her father Eddie O’ Donovan. The readings and prayers of the faithful were read by friends and relatives. Both mothers, Mary O’Donovan and Helen Power presented the gifts at the offertory. The chief celebrant was Rev. Nicholas Flavin assisted by Rev. Pascal Moore.
