KILMOGANNY POST OFFICE WILL REOPEN on Monday next 18th November at 11.00 a.m. The news of the reopening of the Post Office, which has been as a result of a fire on the premises on the 28th August, has been greeted with great joy by the many patrons of the Post Office

PROGRESSIVE 25’S will take place in Guinan’s, Windgap on this Friday night at 9.00 p.m. in aid of the Windgap G.A.A. Club. The Sunday evening game at 8.30 p.m. will take place in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny as usual.


 


THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS will stage A Wake in the West from Tuesday 26th – Friday 29th November in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. It is expected that this comedy will be a sell out so early purchase of tickets is recommended. U 21 SOUTHERN SEMI-FINAL SUCCESS: The Dunnamaggin U 21 hurlers reached the South final on Saturday after they defeated Slieverue on a score line of 2 - 9 to 0 - 7 in Mooncoin. Dunnamaggin got off to the perfect start when Anthony Kearney fielded a high ball and found the back of the net. Andrew Fitzpatrick added a point nearly straight away as the rain continued to fall and make conditions very difficult for players on both sides. Both sides were guilty of wides from play and frees over the next period of play. The Dunnamaggin half back line of Aaron Doherty, William Phelan and Paul Kirwan were starting to impose themselves on the game and the strong midfield of Andrew Fitzpatrick and Michael Cody were running freely.  Andrew pointed again which was followed up by a well taken point from Anthony Kearney after it was worked all the way up the field. Slieverue finally got on the scoreboard as the game headed to the half time mark. Slieverue added another two points from frees to leave just the goal between the teams at half time. Dunnamaggin 1 - 3, Slieverue 0 - 3. Slieverue opened the second half with real intent pointing immediately from the throw in and then pointing from a free to leave the minimum between the teams. William Phelan then restored the advantage with two pointed frees. Ray Cody came on for John Fitzpatrick and Michael Costello came on for Paddy Delaney. Slieverue pointed from play but Anthony Kearney replied straight away replied with one of his own from play. Then came the score that put the game beyond doubt when Willie Bergin followed up on a ball that seemed to be going wide and worked it back across to the goal only for it to be eventually finished to the net by Ray Cody. Slieverue did respond immediately with a point but it was to be their last score. William Phelan pointed again from a free before Willie Bergin had the final score of the game when he finished off a good move from the ever running Ronan Coffey. Dunnamaggin 2 - 9 Slieverue 0 - 7.

AMERICAN TEA PARTY: This great social event, the Annual American Tea Party & Auction in aid of St. Leonard’s N.S will take place on next Friday November 15th in school sports hall.  Once again the organizing committee are asking for items for the auction, [new or good quality items, household, firewood, plants, Christmas good, service vouchers etc.] If you would like to donate an item, it can be dropped into the school any day or contact one of the numbers below. Anyone wishing to be a guest on a table should also make contact, if they have not already been approached. KILMOGANNY GOLF SOCIETY will host their final outing of the season to Bunclody Golf Club on next Saturday 16th November. Tee off time is 10.30 a.m. Society members should contact Dermot O’Shea 087 – 4193229 or Pete Moran at Moran’s Shop in Kilmoganny. Guests are always welcome.


 


THANKS was expressed by the Management Committee of St. Joseph’s Care Home for the Elderly in Kilmoganny to the Slatequarries and District Vintage Club for the presentation of €500 recently. The home is a home from home for low dependency men and women. Once again it received a very complementary Report from HIQA, the Inspectorate, which made an unannounced visit to the Home recently.
