KILMOGANNY MINOR FOOTBALLERS DEFEATED: The Minor Football team comprised of Dunnamaggin’s successful Hurling personal contested the County Final against Tullaroan in bitterly cold Tullaroan on Saturday 28th December. Ronan Coffey who was busy throughout the full game opened the scoring with a well taken point from play only for Tullaroan to respond. Alert Goalkeeping from Jamie McLoughlin kept the sides level and set the play in motion for Paul Kirwan to put Kilmoganny in front. Tullaroan then had a purple patch enjoying the majority of play and pointing three times to put them 4 points to 2 ahead. Ronan Coffey pointed twice in quick succession after good wok from Andrew Fitzpatrick. Andrew Fitzpatrick then went on a very direct run towards goal and blasted the ball inches wide just before half time. Tullaroan responded with a point but there was still time for more drama when a penalty was awarded to Kilmoganny and Ronan made no mistake when he coolly converted to send the sides in Kilmoganny 1 - 4 Tullaroan 0 - 5 at half time.
Ray Cody replaced Greg O’Donnell at half time and Kilmoganny started well when Paul Kirwan burst up the field and eventually pointed after good work. Tullaroan were however converting any time they pushed forward in the opening quarter. With a quarter of an hour to go the score was: Kilmoganny 1 - 5 Tullaroan 0 - 9. Then against the run of play Kilmoganny pushed forward and forced the Tullaroan Goalie to come off his line and Roy Cullen fielded the cleared ball and lobbed the ball into the net from out the field before the goalie could get back on his line. Tullaroan however provided the perfect response when they rattled the Kilmoganny net from the next kick out. Shortly after they were awarded a penalty and they stretched their lead further. With Killian Lafford now on the field for Adam Kenneally Tullaroan goaled again when Jamie McLoughlin did excellently in the gaol to pannier away a point blank shot only for it to hit off the post and land into the net. That was to be the last score of the game despite continued Tullaroan pressure and thanks to Jamie McLoughlin who was very alert in the goal. Full time Kilmoganny 2 - 5 Tullaroan 3 - 9
Team:-Jamie McLoughlin, Jack Brett, Michael Cody, Brian Farrell, Willie Bergin, Aaron Doherty, Eoghan Kearney, Ronan Coffey, Andrew Fitzpatrick, Roy Cullen, Paul Kirwan, John Fitzpatrick, Luke Fitzpatrick, Adam Kenneally, Greg O’Donnell.
