DUNAMAGGAN JUVENILE G.A.A. CLUB will hold its A.G.M. on Friday 17th January at 8.00 p.m. in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan. All parents and those interested in Juvenile Hurling and Football are welcome to attend the meeting.


 



CLOTHING COLLECTION: Dochas Nasamu Orphanage - in Nairobi, Kenya, which is an Irish run and Irish built Aids orphanage, are holding a used clothing appeal of ladies, gents and children's clothes, shoes, household linens i.e. towels, sheets, blankets, soft toys, handbags etc. (whatever condition - even in need of recycling so long as the items are clean).This appeal will take place on Thursday 16th January, until 10.30am at Dunamaggin and at Kilmoganny Church Grounds. ROGER CUMMINS of Rossenarra, Kilmoganny was laid to rest last Saturday 4th January. He died at home in the loving care of his family after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Mary, children Eithne, Ross, Ruairi and Noreen and his brothers and sisters: Tom, Eileen, Anne, Joe, Chris, Eugene, Frank, Madge, Mark and Paddy. His remains were removed on Saturday morning from his home to St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny where they were received by Rev. Philip Brennan O.Carm., Revs. Nicholas Flavin P.P., Liam Barron, William Dalton and Liam Cassin, who concelebrated the mass of Christian burial. The prayers and readings of the mass were read by family members. The prayers at the graveside were recited by Rev. Nicholas Flavin and Rev. P. J. Cunningham O.Carm.


 


THE ANNUAL MASS for Children who died in Infancy or Pre-Birth and their families will be celebrated in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on next Saturday at 7.00 p.m.


 


KILMOGANNY FOOTBALL CLUB A.G.M.: The following are the officer board which was elected at the A.G.M. of Kilmoganny Football Club: Chairman; Mick Lyons, Secretary: Bob Doherty, County Board Rep: Jim Fallon; P.R.O. James Rossiter. The Senior Team Management is Noel Hickey, Michael Davis and Brendan Moore. The main items discussed were: (1) the coming into force for all players of every age of the Mouthguard Rule from 1st January 2014; (2) The Football Rule Changes which apply from January 1st 2014 and (3) The Proposed Changes to the Kilkenny Football Championship for 2014.


 


DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB A.G.M.: Chairman John Hickey praised all members for all their work during the past year, especially all who managed teams and to all who took positions within the club. He urged player's to take it on themselves the responsibility to win matches and not blame management when things went wrong. He congratulated the u-21's on winning South Final and to the minors on completing the double league and championship. He gave special mention to Paddy Moore who retired recently from maintenance on the pitch for all his years of long service to the club. The Chairman also spoke of the club's intention to purchase a juvenile pitch in Kilmoganny and hoped that this facility would be up and running in the next twelve months. Secretary, Andrew O'Neill, spoke of the intermediate team's year and how it ended at the semi-final stage. He urged all player's to fully focus on getting back to the senior grade this coming year. He congratulated David Herity and William Phelan on winning National League medals and to Paul Kirwan on winning Leinster Minor Medal with Kilkenny teams. The Secretary also thanked all involved with the club and sent condolences to any members who lost loved ones during the year. Treasurer, Colin Herity, gave quiet a comprehensive report on the finances of the club, showing that membership had increased slightly, and where one of payments for field drainage and for a new field mower added extra expense in the year. The officers elected were: President: Fr. Nicholas Flavin; Vice-President: Billy Heffernan; Chairman: John Hickey: Vice-Chairman: John Fitzpatrick: Secretary: Martin Crehan; Insurance Officer: Andrew O'Neill; Treasurer: Colin Herity; PRO: James Rossiter; County Board Rep.: Seamus Martin; South Board Rep.: Noel McDonald; ASAP, Child Welfare: Aoife O'Neill; Registrar: Rachel Hickey; Facilities & Maintenance: Malachy Hogan. The Intermediate team Manager is Niall McCormack (who will choose selectors). The Junior A team Management was not finalised. Noel Hickey will manage the U 21team and choose his selectors.
