DUNAMAGGAN PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL will meet on Tuesday next 18th March at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Any ideas or suggestions for the celebrations of Holy Week or for the Mass at the Grotto in May would be very welcome. Such suggestions could be given to any member of the Parish Pastoral Council or left in written form in the presbytery.

THE CELEBRATION OF FIRST PENANCE for children of the parish of Dunamaggan will take place in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Wednesday12th of March for children attending St. Leonard’s School and on Wednesday 19th March in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny for children attending St. Eoghan’s School and St. Brigid’s School.


 


ST. JOSEPH’S HOME KILMOGANNY announced through advertisements, which appeared in the Kilkenny People last week, that the post of Manager of the Home will become vacant in the near future and applications are invited from suitably qualified persons. A nursing qualification and experience of working and caring for the elderly are essential.


 


A MOUSE RACE NIGHT will take place in the Auld House, Killamery on Saturday 22nd March at 8.00 p.m. This novel night’s entertainment is in aid of Windgap Community Projects and is expected to attract many patrons. Tote betting will be available on the night.


 


SUPPORT FOR OLDER PEOPLE: Kilkenny & Carlow Contact is a voluntary organisation whose main objective is to hold out a hand of friendship and be a supportive voice for all our older people in Kilkenny city and county.  Volunteers are now needed in Callan town and surrounding area. HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN: At tis recent meeting material on the following topics was presented for edition: Farming in Dunamaggan, some aspects of Dunamaggan Parish, the history and development of St. Eoghan’s Centre in Kilmoganny, the L’Arche Community in Kilmoganny, list of All-Ireland medal winners and Card Games. If anyone has material related to these topics which has not been submitted as yet it would be appreciated if it were submitted before the next meeting which takes place on 1st April. The material may be brought to the meeting, given to any member of the committee or left into the presbytery. It is hoped that the collection of field names in the parish will commence in the very near future.


 


KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB  RESULTS of Wednesday 5th March: 1st; Grace Landy and Elizabeth Lanigan; 2nd Jackie Kenneally and Ita Crowley; 3rd Marie Comerford and Phil Brennan. Bridge takes place each Wednesday in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. It is not necessary to have a partner.
