THE KILKENNY COMMUNITY & VOLUNTARY FORUM
A.G.M.
will take place in the Ormond Hotel, Kilkenny on this Thursday 10th
April at 8.00 p.m. Registration is from 7.30 p.m. Representatives of all Community &
Voluntary Groups from Dunamaggan, the City & County are invited to attend. The following topics will be addressed: (1) The Changes in Local Government and how these impact on Community
& Voluntary Groups; (2) Leader & Social Inclusion Funding &
Supports for Voluntary activity: (3) Sources of Bridging Finance and Funding
Supports for Community Groups; (4) Value for money Insurance; (5) Kilkenny
Community & Voluntary Forum, its activities and how you can get involved.

KELLS HANDBALL:  In the semi-final of the U 12 B Singles Tomas Leahy (Kells) had to
withdraw due to injury. In the other semi-final Joe Cowhig (Kells) defeated Tom
Holden (Kilfane) and defeated Tristian Roche (Mothel) in the final.  Congratulations and well done.  The Kilkenny U 14/15 team of
6 of Rory Lodge (Kells), Cillian Lafford (Kells), Conor Hoban (Kells), Shane
Cullen (Windgap), Jack Hayes (Windgap) and Aidan Barry (Clogh) were defeated by
Tyrone in the All-Ireland Semi-final. In the County Adult Championships in Ladies Senior Singles Marie Walshe
(Kells) was defeated by Mary Phelan (Clogh); in the Junior
B Singles John Fitzgerald (Kells)
defeated Darren Walsh (Windgap) and also in the Junior B Singles Dan Breen
(Kells) defeated Fergal Lalor (Talbot’s Inch) and then John Fitzgerald (Kells)
defeated Dan Breen (Kells); in the Intermediate Singles Diarmuid Burke (Kells) defeated Philly Lonergan (Windgap); in the Senior
Doubles Diarmuid Burke and Brendan Burke (Kells) were defeated by William Love
and Daniel Love (Clogh); in the Minor B Singles Pat Funchion (Kells) was
defeated by John Duggan (O’Loughlin’s) and in the Senior Singles Peter Funchion
(Kells) got a walkover from William Love (Clogh).


 



KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 2nd April
were: 1st Margaret O’Shea & Philip Brennan, 2nd Myra
Hickey & Nellie Lahart; 3rd Jackie Kenneally & Ita Crowley.
Bridge takes place on each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre,
Kilmoganny. It is not essential to arrive with a partner.


 


A TABLE QUIZ will take place in Shirley’s, Kells on Friday
25th April in aid of the Nurture Africa Uganda Appeal. The entry for
a Table of 4 is €40. A raffle will also be held. Your support is very welcome
and appreciated. Joanna & Aishling Cody also wish to thank  all who supported the Coffee Morning at which
€970 was raised including a donation from St. Leonard’s School was raised for
the same charity


 


GOOD FRIDAY PROGRESSIVE 25’S will be held in St.
Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on April 18th at 8.30 p.m. Refreshments
will be served. Admission is €10 and raffle. The proceeds are  in aid of Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team  in memory of the late Rodger Cummins.


 




HOLY WEEK CEREMONIES: The Holy Week ceremonies
will be as follows: Palm Sunday Mass times: Tullahought at 9.00 a.m.; Windgap
at 9.45 a.m.; Dunamaggan at11.00 a.m. Confirmation will be celebrated in
Dunamaggan during 11.00 a.m. mass. Holy Thursday: Windgap at 7.00 p.m.;
Dunamaggan at 8.00 p.m.; Good Friday: Windgap at 2.00 p.m.; Dunamaggan at 3.15
p.m.; Kilmoganny at 7.00 p.m. & Tullahought at 8.00 p.m. The Sacrament of
Reconciliation will be celebrated during the ceremonies; Holy Saturday:
Kilmoganny at 6.45 p.m.; Windgap at 7.45 p.m. & Dunamaggan at 9.00 p.m.
