DUNAMAGGAN MINOR HURLERS
WIN
: The Dunnamaggin Minor hurlers took on
Windgap/Galmoy in a sun drenched Dunnamaggin on Monday week last. Dunnamaggin
and Windgap/Galmoy started the game very evenly with the scores tied at 2
points each after a few minutes. The Dunamaggin scores coming from John
Fitzpatrick from play and a free. His brother Luke then widened the gap through
a well taken goal and a point by the ever running Ronan Coffey from play. Windgap
closed the gap to one before Luke Fitzpatrick found the back of the net again
from a very tight angle with John Fitzpatrick adding a point from a free
shortly after. This lead was extended through points from Dara Keane and Ronan Coffey
before the move of the match when a Michael Cody fielded ball was sent
diagonally to half forward Rory Lodge who swiftly passed it to the on rushing
Dara Keane who placed it to John Fitzpatrick who duly rattled the net. At half
time the score was: Dunnamaggin 3 - 8 Windgap/Galmoy 0 – 6. Dunnamaggin opened
the second half scoring with a fine point from Ronan. They seemed to be in
control and perhaps the scoreboard allowed them to relax and Windgap/Galmoy certainly
took their chance. They scored 2 - 3 without reply as they lay siege to the
Dunnamaggin full back line lead by ever solid Aaron Doherty and experienced
half back line of Eoghan Kearney, Michael Cody and Jack Brett. Killian Lafford
came on for Roy Cullen midway through the half. It was not till 10 minutes from
the close of play that Dunnamaggin registered their second score of the half
with a point from Ronan Coffey. Luke Fitzpatrick found the back of the net
again to get his hat trick before John Fitzpatrick finished Dunnamaggin’s
scoring with a good point after great work from Ronan Coffey.  Jack Crehan replaced Brian Farrell. The score
then read Dunnamaggin 4 - 11 Windgap/Galmoy 2 - 9, But Windgap/Galmoy refused
to give up and found the back of the net again and added two points to bring
the final score to 4 – 11 to 3 – 11. It was a very exciting game with some very
good hurling by both sides. Panel:-Morgan Thomas, Stephen Lawlor, Aaron
Doherty, Brian Farrell, Jack Brett, Michael Cody, Eoghan Kearney, Chris Keane,
Jamie McLoughlin, Dara Keane, Ronan Coffey, Rory Lodge, Luke Fitzpatrick, John
Fitzpatrick, Roy Cullen, Killian Lafford, Jack Crehan, Greg O’Donnell.
