ST. LEONARD’S SCHOOL NEWS: An induction day for new infants will be held on Friday 20th
June from 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 noon. In the annual Swim Gala which will be held
on Thursday 19th June in the Watershed a large number of students
will be taking part. The School league finals will be held on Sunday 22nd
June and there will also be other attractions.

St Leonard’s 5-a-side soccer team had an incredible run in the
F.A.I. Aviva soccer competition this year. They emerged county champions (for
the 7th year in a row) beating near neighbours and friends from Kilmoganny and
Stoneyford along the way. This brought them to Portlaoise where they faced
stiff opposition from Kildare, Laois and Offaly in the mid-Leinster championships.
The boys played excellently to see them off and proceeded to the Leinster final
in Navan to face Dublin, Wexford and Meath teams. They won their first two
games comfortably, as did Meath. They were one game away from the national
finals in the Aviva. However the Meath team were very confident, especially as
they were playing on their home pitch, and a couple of early goals sealed the
Dunamaggan boys fate. However, the boys were delighted to receive beautiful runner-up
medals which they will treasure. Four of the boys will be eligible to play
again next year so hopes will be high for more success. None of this would be
possible without St. Leonard’s very own "Alex Ferguson", P.J.
O'Keeffe, who gets the best out the boys in every game and the school are very
grateful for his involvement. The team: Gerard Coffey, Jamie O'Keeffe, Derrick
O'Carroll, Daniel O'Neill, Dylan Carroll, Andy Hickey, Darragh Walsh and Shaun
O'Keeffe.

DUNAMAGGAN HURLING NEWS: The U 6’s had their first hurling blitz of the year when they
hosted Gowran, Thomastown and Danesfort as part of the Kells Summer fest at the
weekend. The blitz took place in Margaret’s Field in Kells behind the Round House.
Dunnamaggin had 25 U 6’s that took part in three games of 8 minutes a side.
They all had a great day and were presented with their medals and a very
important voucher for the bouncy castle by County hurler David Herity. A
special word of thanks is extended to the Organisers, James Rossiter and Kevin
O’Neill, the Coaches, James Moylan, Mick Lyons and Tom Hickey and to Referees,
William Moriarty, Padraig Lawton, John Fitzpatrick and John Walsh.

The U 14 hurlers played their final league game on Sunday evening 1st
June against St.Lachtain’s. In a high scoring and every entertaining game both
sides gave of their all right up to the final whistle. Dunnamaggin opened the
scoring through points from Darragh O’Keeffe, Robbie McCauley and Adam
Fitzpatrick but St.Lachtain’s responded with 1 - 1 scoring the first of seven
goals in this game.  They added two more points  before Robbie
McCauley got Dunnamaggin back on track with a point  which was followed up
with points from Denis Walsh and Robbie McCauley again to bring the sides
level, but before long St.Lachtain’s had bagged another goal and lead by 2 – 3
to 0 - 6. Dunnamaggin had made some positional changes moving Harry Walsh to
full back and Alex Moore up front and it seemed to be working when they hit
their opponents for five unanswered points through Robbie McCauley, Denis Walsh,
Adam Fitzpatrick and two from Darragh  O’Keeffe
to send the sides in at half time Dunnamaggin 0 – 11, St.Lachtain’s 2 – 3. Daniel
O’Neill came on for Darragh Walsh at half time and Dunnamaggin opened the
scoring with a fine point but yet again St.Lachtain’s responded with a goal and
added two points to it. Robbie McCauley started the Dunnamaggin response with a
well taken free and Adam Fitzpatrick chipped in with one also to narrow the
gap. Then popped up the ever running Darragh O’Keeffe to score a very good
point, which was followed up by another free from Robbie McCauley. It was now Game
on. Alex Moore then put some distance between the teams with a very well taken
goal. Eddie Dunne then came on for Sean O’Keeffe and with his first touch
pointed. St.Lachtain’s still did not waver and yet again found the back of the
net. However that was to be their last score. Alex Moore found the net again
before Darragh O’Keeffe finished the scoring for Dunamaggin to round off a good
win. Dunnamaggin 3 - 17 St.Lachtain’s 4 – 5.

Dunamaggin have now topped their league winning all but one game.
Well done to all the players and mentors. Panel: Dylan Carroll, Jamie O’Keeffe,
Alex Moore, Ger Coffey, Andy Hickey, Harry Walsh, Dylan Crehan, Ian Walsh,
Conor Brett, Robbie McCauley, Adam Fitzpatrick, Denis Walsh, Darragh O’Keeffe,
