L’ARCHE KILMOGANNY
CELEBRATIONS:
L’Arche, Kilmoganny, the first
L’Arche foundation in Ireland will celebrate the 50th anniversary of
the foundation of L’Arche, International last Saturday which opened with a
parade of representatives form L’Arche in Dublin, Belfast, Cork and Kilkenny
which includes Callan and Kilmoganny. After a few brief opening addresses there
was a variety of afternoon entertainment in the Gardens of L’Arche, which were
looked splendid in the afternoon glorious weather. In the meditation garden
beautiful music was provided. There were also activities in St. Eoghan’s Centre
and a BBQ in Dunphy’s. At mass at 7.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Church the L’Arche
Choir and musicians provided very appropriate music and song for the occasion.
The celebrant at mass was Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. accompanied by Revs. Martin
Simna and Joseph Rooney. Niall, Patrick, Declan and Nula from L’Arche
communities joined Conor Brett and Brendan Keech in serving at mass. The
readings at mass were read by members of the L’Arche community and Alva
Fitzpatrick, the first Director of L’Arche, Kilmoganny gave an enlightening
talk on L’Arche, it6s history and world wide work. The celebrations concluded
with live music from 8.30 p.m. In the gardens of L’Arche there is the plot
which is tended by the pupils of St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny ensuring that
the close integration of L’Arche, Kilmoganny with the local community is
continuing.

KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Leinster 60 x 30 championships in Junior Doubles Ger McGrath/C.J. Delaney (Kells) were defeated
by Paul Lambert/Paddy Haughton (Wexford); in the Junior B Doubles Dan
Breen/Anthony Martin (Kells) received a walkover from Declan Kilmurry/Barry
Murphy (Offaly); in the Junior Singles Brendan Burke
(Kells) defeated David Kenny (Wexford) and also in the Junior Singles Ger
McGrath (Kells) defeated Jason Murphy (Wexford). Good luck and best wishes to
the Kells Feile Team and mentors who are traveling to Saval, Co. Down next
weekend to participate in the Handball Feile na Gael in Division 4. The team
is: Orla Crehan, Catherine Power, Eoin Brennan, Dylan Crehan, Michael Power,
Colin McKenna, Darragh O’Keeffe and Conor Hoban.


 


THE ANNUAL VARIETY CONCERT in aid of St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny will take place in
Dunphy’s Lounge, Kilmoganny on Saturday 21st June at 9.00 p.m. The
programme of events will include music, dance, comedy galore and some political
satire. You are asked to come early and enjoy a great evening’s entertainment.
The proceeds will be used to purchase I pads for the school.



KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: Results of Wednesday 11th
June: 1st Nicholas Flavin & Philip Brennan; 2nd Carmel
O’Sullivan & Emer Wallace; 3rd Ellen Delahunty & Pascal
Grace. Bridge is held in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on each Wednesday at
8.00 p.m. As this is the season when a number of Bridge Clubs cease playing for
the Summer visitors and new members are welcome in Kilmoganny. Partners will be
provided for participants.


 


ST. LEONARD’S SCHOOL NEWS: The annual afternoon of celebration and School League Finals will
take place on Next Sunday 22nd June in the School. Support of all is
welcome. The end of School mass and certificates of Graduation will take place
on Wednesday 25th July at 1.30 p.m.


 


CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION: The annual Corpus Christi Procession will take place in Dunamaggan
after 11.00 a.m. mass in St. Leonard’s Church on Sunday 22nd June.
All children who received their First Holy Communion this year will have a
special place in the procession.


 


 


KELLS SCOUTS: The 6th
Kilkenny Kells Scouts are holding their annual registration night on Tuesday 24th
June at 7.30p.m. in Kells Hall. Registration is for all new and current
members. Registration is compulsory for all on or before the night to secure a
place in the group for September. It is important that parents/guardians are
present with children for registration.
