KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: Results of Wednesday 18th
June: 1st Mary Lonergan & Josie O’Gorman; Joint 2nd Therese
Walsh & Eileen Grace and Grace Landy & Joan Cody. Bridge is held in St.
Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. On July 9th
there will be a special prize night. As this is the season when a number of
Bridge Clubs cease playing for the summer visitors and new members are welcome
in Kilmoganny. Partners will be provided for participants.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION: The annual
Corpus Christi Procession took place in Dunamaggan after 11.00 a.m. mass in St.
Leonard’s Church on Sunday last 22nd June. The procession was led by
the children who received their First Holy Communion last May. The weather
conditions for the procession were ideal.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the County 60 x 30 championship in the Ladies B Singles
Karen Walshe (Kells) was defeated by Aoilean Hennessy (Clogh);
Sarah Molloy (Kells) got a walkover from Denise Love (Clogh) and Kirsty Maher
(Kells) defeated Eilis Regan (Clogh). In the Leinster 60 x 30 championship in the
Junior B Singles Anthony Martin (Kells) defeated Sam Temple (Kildare); in the
Junior Singles Ger McGrath (Kells) was defeated by Darren O’Toole (Wexford) and
Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Daniel Fenlon (Carlow). Kells Feile na nGael Handball team of Eoin Brennan,
Michael Power, Colin McKenna, Dylan Crehan, Conor Hoban and Darragh O’Keeffe
travelled to Saval, Co. Down to compete in Division 4 Feile na nGael 2014. In their 1st round they defeated
Truagh, Co. Monaghan 21-2, 21-3, and then they defeated St. Pat’s, Cavan 21-4,
21-2. In the semi-final they met Kells,
Co. Meath and defeated them 21-10, 21-1.
In the final they defeated Cashel, Co. Tipperary 21-12, 21-15. Eoin Brennan also won the Division 4 Feile na
nGael skills competition. This is a brilliant achievement, congratulations and
well done to all the lads and parents who travelled with them and to Patrick
Funchion who coached them along the way.
THE ANNUAL VARIETY CONCERT which was held in Dunphy’s, Kilmoganny on Saturday ni9ght was once
again an outstanding success. The quality of entertainment whether, musical, singing,
satire or acting was of a high standard. The proceeds are in aid of St.
Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny for the purchase of I Pads.
THE COMMUNITY &
VOLUNTARY VOICE method of representation and
structured way of influencing Local Authority Policy changing as a result of
decisions taken by the Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan T.D. Kilkenny
Co. Council is organising meetings in Each Municipal Area to inform people of
these changes. A meeting in Kilkenny West Municipal District will take place on Wednesday 2nd July
, 7.30p.m. in the Friary Hall, Callan, Co. Kilkenny and in the South Municipal
District on Tuesday15th July at 7.30p.m. in Piltown Community Hall, Piltown ,
Co. Kilkenny. A County Plenary information meeting will take place on Wednesday
30th July at 7.30 p.m. in the Kilkenny River Court Hotel, Kilkenny.
Representatives of all Community, Sporting, Voluntary, Environmental Groups and
any other groups are invited to attend these meetings. Each group is invited to
register either at these meetings or prior to the meetings by completing a
registration form. Subsequently representatives of the groups will be elected.
