CEMETERY MASSES will be celebrated in Kilmoganny Cemetery on this Friday 11th
July, in Kilree cemetery on next Wednesday 16th July and in
Dunamaggan Cemetery on Friday 18th July. All masses will be at 8.00
p.m.

NORA CODY, late of Croughtabeg, Dunamaggan died peacefully in Strathmore
Lodge, Nursing Home, Callan. Nora, who was less than four years short of a
century, is survived by her son, Seamus, many relatives and friends. Her
remains were removed from her home in Croughtabeg on Thursday last to St.
Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan where they were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin
P. P. and Rev. Tom Dermody from her native, Mullinavat prior to the mass of Christian
burial. Members of her extended family read the readings and prayers of the
faithful and presented gifts and symbols. The local choir sang during the
ceremony. She was buried in Coolagh cemetery. May she rest in peace.


 KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: Results of Wednesday 2nd July: 1st: Elizabeth Lanigan & Grace
Landy; 2nd; Carmel O’Sullivan & Emer Wallace; Joan Cody &
Eileen Grace. Bridge is held in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on each
Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. On this Wednesday July 9th there will be a
special prize night. As this is the season when a number of Bridge Clubs cease
playing for the summer visitors and new members are welcome in Kilmoganny.
Partners will be provided for participants.


KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the
Adult County 60 x 30 championships in the Senior Doubles Brendan Burke/Diarmuid
Burke (Kells) were defeated by Ciarain Neary/Michael Ducksy Walsh (Talbot’s
Inch); in the Ladies B Singles Kirsty Maher (Kells) got a walkover from Sarah
Molloy (Kells).


In the Adult
Leinster 60 x 30 championships in the Ladies Intermediate Doubles Marie Walshe
(Kells)/Rebecca Mulholland (O’Loughlin’s) received a walkover from Rachel
Hogan/Partner (Kilfane); in the Junior B Singles Anthony Martin (Kells) was
defeated by Miley Connors (Wexford).


The Juvenile County 60 x 30 championships have commenced and Kells
were represented in the Boys U 12 Singles by Joe Cowhig, in the U 13 Singles by
Dylan Crehan and Dillon Wall, in the U 14 Singles by Eoin Brennan and Colin
McKenna, in the U 16 singles by Roy Cullen and Conor Murphy, in the Girls U 13
singles by Ciara Walsh and Laura Condon, in the U 14 singles by Kate Cowhig and
Kym Ryan who played well but lost out in the final and in the U 17 singles by
Elaine Power. The remainder of the singles will be played next weekend as will
the doubles championship.


 


PARKS TENNIS returns to Kilmoganny from Monday 21st July to Friday 1st
August. Lessons will be given each afternoon. The times for each age group are
as follows: Under 8’s from 2.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m. for Under 10’s from 3.00 p.m.
– 4.00 p.m. and for over 10’s from 4.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. Registration is on the
first day and it costs €20 per child.


 


BRIGID (BEZIE) CAHILL from Newtown, Dunamaggan died peacefully in her home last Wednesday.
Her remains reposed at her home until Friday morning when they were removed to
St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan where they were received by Rev. Nicholas
Flavin P.P. and Rev. Dan Carroll, St. Patrick’s prior to the mass of Christian
burial. She is survived by her children: Dick, Kathleen, Pat, John, Mary, Tom
and Bernie, grandchildren, in-laws, relatives, neighbours and friends. She was
preceded by her husband Paddy and daughter Brigid. The readings, prayers of the
faithful and reflection were read by member of her family. She was buried in
the local Dunamaggan Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
