KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The Bridge Club had a prize night last Wednesday 9th
July. The following were the prize winners: 1st; Emer Wallace &
Carmel O’Sullivan; 2nd Mary Delaney & Nicholas Flavin; 3rd;
Nellie Lahart & Jackie Kenneally; 4th; Grace Landy &
Elizabeth Lanigan; 5th; Eileen Grace & Teresa Walsh; 6th;

Grace; 8th; Catherine Hegarty & Chissie O’H; 9th;

11th; Ann Murphy & A. O’Sullivan. Bridge is held in St. Eoghan’s
Centre, Kilmoganny each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. As this is the season when a
number of Bridge Clubs cease playing for the summer visitors and new members
are welcome in Kilmoganny. Partners will be provided for participants. For

CEMETERY MASSES will be celebrated in Kilree cemetery on this Wednesday 16th
July and in Dunamaggan Cemetery on Friday 18th July. All masses will
be at 8.00 p.m. Masses in Kilamery, Tullahought and Windgap will take place on
Wednesday 30th, Thursday 31st July and Friday 1st
August respectively at 7.30 p.m. each evening. The annual mass in the
Slatequarries will be celebrated on Thursday 7th August at 7.30 p.m.
A CARNAVAL CELEBRATION will take place in
Kilmoganny on Sunday 3rd August. The proceedings will
commence with Rosary at Grotto in
Kilmoganny. A Sponsored Walk will take place through Castlemorris wood. Teas will
be served in St Eoghan`s Centre afterwards. A Dog Show will be held opposite
the school in the village at 2.00 pm. A Fancy dress parade from the council
yard to Church Carpark will be held, the time will be finalised shortly. A Children`s
show in Church Carpark or in St. Eoghan’s Centre will follow the Fancy Dress
parade. Tug of War will take place in the field in village which is opposite
the school at 4.00 pm. A Barbeque will continue from 3pm to 8.30pm in street.
There will be afternoon Music outside St. Eoghan’s Centre on footpath.
Various Stalls will be situated in from of the school and in the Picnic area.
The proceeds
in aid of L’Arche, Kilmoganny and St. Joseph’s Home, Kilmoganny. Your support
is very welcome.
PARKS TENNIS returns to Kilmoganny from Monday 21st
July – Friday 1st August. Lessons will be provided each day as
follows: 2.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m. Under 8’s; 3.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m. Under 10’s;
4.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. Over 10’s. Registration will take place on the first day.
The cost is €20 per child.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Adult County 60 x
30 championships, in the Senior Singles Brendan Burke (Kells) was defeated by
Michael Ducksy Walsh (Talbots Inch). In the Leinster Adult 60 x 30
championships in the Junior Singles Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Darren
O’Toole (Wexford) in the 3rd game. In
the Juvenile County 60 x 30 championships representing Kells in the Girls U 12
Singles was Breanna O’Dwyer and in the Boys U 17 singles was Jack Crehan who
won out in the final. Congratulations and well done.
A COLLECTION FOR ST.
MARY’S ABBEY, GLENCAIRN will take place at the
church doors in the parishes of Windgap and Dunamaggan on the weekend of 26th
& 27th July. In addition there will be a sale of preservatives
in Kilmoganny and Windgap. One of the members of the Cistercian community in
Glencairn is Sr. Agnes (Monica O’Shea), a native of Windgap, who entered the
community in 1951.
