DUNAMAGGAN U 8 HURLERS
HAVE DAY IN CROKE PARK:
The U 8 panel had a
wonderful day out when they travelled to Croke Park last Monday week 14th
July. They travelled to Dublin by bus with many parents, brothers, sisters and
coaches. Their day started off with a tour of the changing rooms and warm-up
area before they were lead up the tunnel on to the famous Croke Park pitch
which many a player would wish to grace. Dunnamaggin had two teams, U 7 and U 8
both of which were up against St. Martin’s from Wexford. The U 8’s, under the
mentorship of Padraig Lawton and Stephen Gilmore got off to the perfect start
in these 20 minutes aside games with some quick goals to get them to an early
lead. In the adapted rule game a goal was worth 1 point and a point 3 points.
The U 7’s were looked after by Colm Deegan and Philip Tallon found the initial
going tough and conceded some early goals. Half time came very quickly as the
radiant sunshine continued to illuminate the famous ground. Dunnamaggin
regrouped and the forwards became backs and vice versa as the rules dictated.
The U 8’s took up where they had left off and goals and points came easily to
earn victory. The U 7’s now also started to get to the speed of the game and
their opponents and finished very strong and got back to snatch victory from
the Wexford boys before the fulltime whistle. The full panel then were escorted
up the famous Hogan stand steps where they grouped together and got to lift a
replica trophy. The day was topped off with a trip to McDonalds. Special thanks
to all the coaches, particularly Philip Tallon who organised the whole day and
to Stephen Gilmore who produced an A3 photographic momento of the day which was
presented to the players at their next training session.

DUNAMAGGIN G.A.A. SCRATCH CARDS:  The GAA club is running a fundraiser to
continue with its development plans. They are selling scratch card tickets at a
price of €2 each. If you scratch the card, and it shows the time of the first
goal in the all-Ireland hurling final 2014, you win €500. There will be a ‘no
goals’ ticket and an ‘extra-time goal scored ticket’ so if there are no goals,
or if the first goal is scored in extra time of either half, there will still
be one lucky winner. This is a great opportunity for people from all parts of
Kilkenny and beyond to make a €2 investment worth €500. If you think you could
sell some tickets outside the parish, in your workplace, on your holidays etc,
then please let the club know and they will allocate some tickets to you to
allow you sell. The more people selling, the more successful the fundraiser
will be. Please contact any club official if you would like to get involved.

GOLF CLASSIC: The Annual Dunamaggin GAA golf classic will be held on Friday 15th
& Saturday 16th August at the usual venue of Callan Golf Club. Support
for this great event is very welcome. Contact Michael Murphy 086 2364864 or 056
7728210 for Tee times. Dunamaggan G.A.A. Club wish to thank all its 300 plus
supporters who purchased tickets in the Hurling Co-Op Draw.
