Kells Handball Hal Clarke Tournament

Hal Clarke TournamentKells had four representatives in the Hal Clarke 60x30 singles tournament held over the past few months. The Hal Clarke tournament is run by Kilfane Handball Club and representing Kells were Anthony Martin, Diarmuid Burke, Dan Breen and Ger McGrath. Diarmuid Burke was defeated in the second round by Tom O Keefe from Kilfane with Dan Breen also losing out in the second round to Willie Holden also from the home club. Anthony Martin and Ger McGrath both progressed to the final with Anthony defeating JJ English from Goresbridge in one semi final and Ger overcoming Kilfane player Noel Holden in a tie break in the other side of the draw. In an all Kells affair Anthony proved too strong for Ger on this occasion winning in two games in a great final. After the final both players were presented with their trophies by Kilfane chairman Ray Ryan and the Clarke Cup was presented to Anthony for the second time having previously won it in 2011
Adult County 60x30 ChampionshipsIn the adult county championships Kells made a clean sweep of the intermediate grade with Anthony Martin winning the Intermediate singles and teaming up with Dan Breen to add the Intermediate doubles
