Hurling Development Squad Success

Dunnamaggin Hurling Club had an
unprecedented, nine players involved in weekend development squad action. Ian
Walsh featured at wing forward on the prestigious U14A Tony Forrestal team that
won the tournament outright beating Galway in the final Tipperary in Semi final
and Limerick and Wexford in the group stages. Highlights of the final were
shown on TG4. We had three players involved in the U14B Sonny Walsh team.
Robbie McCauley (centre forward), Adam Fitzpatrick (wing back) and Darragh O’Keeffe
(corner forward) all played some part in matches between Cork, Wexford and
Dublin but lost out on points difference to advance further in the competition.
Robbie netted a goal in the match against Cork.


In U15 action was Luke Fitzpatrick (corner
back) and Rory Lodge (Wing back) on the victorious Kilkenny south squad. They
disposed of Wexford north &South, Laois and Dublin on their way to the
final against Kilkenny North which they won on a score line of 1:07 to 0:05 to receive
the Micheal Foley cup.


Victor Costello (wing back) was our
representative at the U16 tournament in Cappawhite.  Kilkenny defeated Cork, Tipperary and Laois. They
beat Wexford in the semi final after extra time but lost out to Dublin in the
final after Extra time also.  


On the U17 squad Michael Cody (centre back)
and Ronan Coffey (wing forward) played in games against Clare (where Ronan
scored 2:03), Limerick and were beaten by Galway by a point in the shield
final.
