COMMUNITY & VOLUNTARY GROUPS from the Callan electoral area are all invited to a meeting in Coolagh Hall on Tuesday 22nd March at 8.00 p.m.. The meeting will update those present on developments in the Leader Partnership funding re Grants available and the variety of assistance available through the Company to groups and individuals. There will also be reports on the various activities and from the many groups/agencies on which the Community and Voluntary Forum is represented. The meeting is open to representatives of all groups/organisations in the Callan Electoral Area.
KELLS HANDBALL CLUB was well represented in the Leinster championships. In the Juvenile championships a number of players were defeated at the semi-final stages in the 40 X 20 championships. In the U 13 Singles: Sean Muddiman (Kildare) beat Roy Cullen (Kells); in the U 17 Doubles: Corey Fay/Cian O Dalaigh beat Brendan Hyland (Kells)/Sean Butler; In the girls U 12 Doubles: Kathy Long (Kells)/Margaret Purcell(Windgap) lost to Sorcha Tiernan/Niamh
Masterson (Kildare). In the Leinster Final Girls U15 singles Karen Walshe (Kells) was beaten by Amy McGrane (Kildare).
In the Adult Leinster Finals there mixed results. In the Ladies Junior B Singles: Rachel Hogan (Kilfane) beat Marie Walshe (Kells). In the U 21Singles: Patrick Funchion (Kells) beat Gary Donohoe (Wicklow). In the Masters B Doubles: Paul Ruane/Cyril Kaar (Kildare) beat Pat Funchion/Paddy Fennelly (Kells) In the Intermediate Doubles: Nicholas Anthony (Mullinavat)/Brian Manogue (Kells) beat Carl Browne/Gary McConnell (Meath). In the Leinster Semi final Minor Doubles Niall O’Connor/Robert Maguire (Kildare) beat Cillian Treacy/Stephen O’Dwyer (Kells).
In the County Championships Masters C Singles: Paddy Fennelly (Kells) beat Eddie English (Goresbridge). In the Intermediate Singles: Brendan Burke(Kells) beat Anthony Martin (Kells) and in the Minor Singles Peter Funchion (Kells) beat Stephen O’Dwyer (Kells).
Best of luck to Kells handballers Patrick Funchion in U21 Singles & U 21Doubles, Peter Funchion in U 21 Doubles and Brian Manogue in Intermediate Doubles in their All Ireland Semi Finals against opponents from the North in the coming weeks. Dillon Wall and Dylan Crehan won the County U 10 Doubles final.

FIRST CONFESSIONS will be celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Tuesday 22nd March at 7.0 p.m. for the children of St. Leonard’s School and in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on Wednesday 23rd march for the children of St. Eoghan’s School.
