MASS FOR BEREAVED
FAMILIES:
A special mass especially for families
who suffered bereavement through the death of relatives either within the
Parish of Dunamaggan or outside the parish was celebrated in St. Leonard’s
Church, Dunamaggan on Friday last 14th November at 7.30 p.m. by Rev.
Nicholas Flavin P.P. Each family brought a lighted candle to the altar before
the offertory in remembrance of their relatives. After mass each family took
their candle home.

ST.
JOSEPH’S HOME, KILMOGANNY
has
had major management changes in recent times with the retirement of long
serving manager, Kathleen Kirby, and her replacement by Liz Glennon. In the New
Year part-time nurse, Mary Mulhall, will also retire and the closing date for
applications is the 25th November. Further details may be had from
the manager.



KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday 12th November were: Individual
Competition: 1st: Eileen Grace; Joint 2nd: Margaret
Dunne, Mary Delaney & Ellen Delahunty. Bridge is played each Wednesday in
St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. Visitors and new members are
welcome.



THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNERS which were auctioned
at the Variety Concert, last June, in aid of St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny
will take place in Dunphy’s, Kilmoganny on Saturday 13th December at
7.30 p.m. All outstanding monies for tables should be given to Maura Dunphy as
soon as possible. Live music by Mush Molloy will be provided from 10.30 p.m.
and all are welcome to the live music. For further details contact Alycia

THE
ANNUAL AMERICAN TEA PARTY
will
take place in St. Leonard’s School Hall, Dunamaggan on Friday 28th
November at 8.00 p.m. The price per person is €10 and tables are from 8 to 16
members. As usual there will be savories and sweet treats with a monster
auction and raffle on the night. If you would like to host or join a table or
sponsor or donate a prize please contact Inez at 087 – 6715364 as soon as
possible.


THE HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN group will meet on Tuesday next 25th November in St.
Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny at 8.00 p.m. The details of a number of old cures
were presented at the last meeting. If there are records of any other old cures
in your family the information would be very welcome to the group. The meeting
is open to all who wish to attend. Thus far over 270 pages of information have
been typed up but much more material is promised and it needs to be submitted
soon.


FASHION SHOW: Kilkenny GAA is hosting a Fashion Show featuring the players from
the All Ireland winning team and their partners in Langton’s Hotel on Wednesday
3rd December. Tickets costing €20 are available from the Information
Desk at MacDonagh Junction, Langton’s and from Nowlan Park. Proceeds go towards
the Players Holiday Fund.


FUN RUN/JOG/WALK will take place on next Sunday 23rd November at 12.30
p.m. starting from St. Brigid’s College, Callan. Registration will take place
from 10.30 a.m. on the day. Prizes for the first male and female to finish the
course and plenty of spot prizes. Refreshments will be provided after the

KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The first games of the 40 x 20 juvenile league were played in Kells,
with Kells playing Kilfane.  The Kells
representatives were Padraig Lennon, Shaun O’Keeffe, Matthew O’Sullivan, John
O’Brien, Joe Cowhig, Tomas Leahy, Kieran Buckley, Andy Hickey, Dylan Crehan,
Dillon Wall, Eoin Brennan and Mikey Prendergast. 


The Adult 40 x 20 Irish Nationals were hosted in Kilkenny over the
weekend.  Kells hosted the Men’s Golden
Masters B Singles and Emerald Masters Singles games. Kells representative in
the Men’s Open singles was Peter Funchion who was defeated by the eventual
winner Killian Carroll and in the Emerald Masters Singles was Pat Funchion who
was defeated in the final by Benny Doyle of Wexford. Congratulations and well
done.
